Nearly 60% of Russians plan to shop only online

With Black Friday and Bachelor's Day promotions coming up soon, Russia conducted a public opinion survey on consumer willingness. The results showed that nearly two-thirds of Russians will participate in Black Friday promotions this year, 58.2% of Russians plan to buy products online , and another 37.2% will use a combination of online and offline methods. Only 4.6% of respondents prefer promotions in regular stores.

 

Survey participants also listed reasons that prevent them from buying online. 51% of Russians will not buy a product that has bad reviews , negative reviews on an online store will prevent 36% of respondents from buying , and 29% will not buy an item if the store does not offer free shipping .

 

In addition, 47% are ready to spend no more than 5,000 rubles. Among residents of small towns, 75% prefer to order delivery to the post office. Among them, 31% of small town residents are ready to wait up to 1 week for delivery in Russia, and only 16% are willing to receive the goods within 2-3 days.

 

At the same time, men are more interested in shopping in foreign online stores than women (59% and 51%, respectively ) . Respondents said that goods abroad are cheaper ( 69%), online stores offer a wider variety of goods (53%), and there are no necessary goods in Russia (47%). Among those surveyed in foreign online stores, 54% of respondents said they were ready to wait up to 1 month for delivery.

 

Among the categories of goods that Russians want to buy online in 2021, 51% of respondents chose clothing, 43% chose electronics and electrical appliances, 28% preferred hobbies and leisure goods, 27% household and repair goods, and 23 % perfumes and cosmetics.

 

The survey involved 4,750 consumers , 57% of whom were women. 36.7% of the respondents lived in cities with a population of 1 million, 34.6% lived in cities with a population of 100,000 to 1 million, and 28.8% lived in small places with a population of less than 100,000 .

 

Russian Post expects express demand to grow by 25-30% in November . Russian Post is the largest local federal postal and logistics operator and is included in the list of strategic enterprises of the Russian Federation. In terms of the number of customer service branches, Russian Post is the seventh largest company in the world, with more than 42,000 outlets. In the first nine months of this year , the revenue from imported shipments increased by 20.4% year-on-year to 22.5 billion rubles.

 

The promotion is just around the corner, and sellers must seize the opportunity to increase sales.
