AliExpress Russia acquires 50.1% stake in Kazan Express

Recently, there was news that AliExpress Russia announced the acquisition of a 50.1% controlling stake in European logistics company Kazan Express. The acquisition amount has not yet been disclosed.

Kazan Express is one of the fastest growing logistics companies in Europe, with distribution points in 91 cities in 18 regions of Russia. It is reported that in March this year, AliExpress Russia spent billions of rubles to acquire 30% of the shares of Kazan Express. In other words, AliExpress Russia holds about 80% of the shares of Kazan Express.

AliExpress said the acquisition is aimed at further expanding the company's scale and strengthening logistics, including opening a 1 million square meter distribution center in Kazan, which will be one of the largest distribution centers in Europe.

AliExpress Russia expects that the acquisition will make it the company with the largest number of e-commerce orders in Russia by 2024. Data shows that Kazan Express's business volume has increased by 800% in the past year. In September, Kazan Express handled 50,000 orders per day; by December, this number is expected to double.
