The "high-quality buyers" in the European market have attracted many cross-border sellers. Their high consumption level and pursuit of high-quality life, coupled with the impact of the epidemic, are all "catalysts" for the development of the European e-commerce market.
Data shows that the revenue of the European e-commerce market is expected to reach 465 billion US dollars in 2021. By 2025, the value of the European e-commerce sector will reach nearly 570 billion US dollars. In particular, emerging markets represented by Central and Eastern Europe have emerged as the fastest growing region of the year.
This year, the World Bank raised its economic growth forecast for Central and Eastern European countries in 2021, predicting that the economies of Central and Eastern European countries are expected to grow by 3.6% this year and 4.2% in 2022.
When it comes to specific countries, their development trends are slightly different.
Poland, as the "new favorite" of cross-border merchants in recent years, has also performed very well. According to statistics, in 2020, the sales growth of Polish e-commerce was between 35% and 60%. The online sales of clothing and footwear increased by 2.5 times.
Allegro, a local e-commerce platform in Poland, is currently the most popular platform among local consumers. Allegro has its own payment and delivery services, which make shopping more convenient for buyers and help sellers grow their businesses faster. In September this year, Allegro announced the trial operation of its Fulfillment overseas warehouse, which is expected to be open to more international sellers in the future.
Another country worth paying attention to is the Czech Republic. It is the third largest economy in Eastern Europe. According to data from Shoptet, the largest online store creation and management solution provider in the Czech Republic, in the second quarter of 2021, online store sales in the Czech Republic increased by 12% year-on-year to 50.5 billion crowns (about 2.35 billion US dollars). Compared with the first quarter, the fastest growing sales were travel-related products. The survey found that Czech consumers love fashion the most, accounting for the largest proportion of online sales at 29%, followed by consumer electronics and media (28%); toys, hobbies and DIY (23%); furniture and appliances (12%) and food and personal care (8%).
Turkey has also become a "new blue ocean" for e-commerce in recent years. According to Statista's forecast, by 2022, Turkey's e-commerce market will reach $6.726 billion, making it the country with the fastest annual compound growth rate in the world's retail e-commerce. According to the Turkish Statistical Institute's report, nearly 60.9% of Turkish consumers purchased clothing, shoes and accessories, followed by electronic products at 58% and personal care and beauty products at 49%.
Various data show that the e-commerce market in Central and Eastern European countries is "shining". In particular, the support of national policies and the impact of the epidemic have further boosted its development. I hope that all business sellers can seize the opportunity and create more possibilities for explosive orders. E-commerce Central and Eastern Europe |
