Amazon reaches a settlement with fake influencers for selling counterfeit goods on the platform!

According to the latest news, Amazon has reached a settlement with two influencers who sold counterfeit goods. In addition to paying the settlement, the two will not be able to sell any products on the Amazon platform without authorization in the future.

According to the 2020 lawsuit, Amazon said these people promoted counterfeit luxury brand products on social networking sites TikTok, Instagram and Facebook, and then directed customers to Amazon stores to indicate that the products were genuine, but the actual products shipped were counterfeit products promoted on social networking sites. Amazon certainly cannot tolerate this.

According to the settlement agreement, the two will pay a settlement fee to Amazon, which will be donated to charity, and they also agree to fully and unconditionally cooperate with Amazon's investigation and legal proceedings against the remaining defendants, suppliers involved in selling counterfeit goods, and other persons who engage in such behavior.

In addition, Amazon explicitly prohibits the two from directly or indirectly marketing and promoting any products of any type in the Amazon store in the future without written authorization . Previously, Amazon also filed a joint lawsuit with technology company GoPro, clothing manufacturer HanesBrands and outdoor product manufacturer YETI.

Just like what Amazon did before, they will not let the behavior of selling counterfeit goods and the related personnel go unchecked, but will investigate them to the end. Not long ago, the US Congress also passed the "Shopping Safety Act", which stated that it would severely crack down on the behavior of third-party sellers selling counterfeit goods on major e-commerce platforms .

It is reported that the person in charge of this incident is a global anti-counterfeiting team established by Amazon in June 2020. The main task of this team is to track down counterfeiters and hold them accountable to the greatest extent possible to reduce the number of counterfeit goods. According to statistics, among all the products currently sold on Amazon, less than 0.01% of sellers have received counterfeit complaints from customers.

Here, the editor reminds sellers that no matter which platform, there are more and more issues to pay attention to in terms of products, such as whether they are suspected of infringement, selling counterfeit goods, complying with product safety regulations , etc.
