Brazil's e-commerce revenue grew 17.6% in the first seven months, with continued stable development

According to the latest survey by Neotrust, Brazil's e-commerce revenue grew by 17.6% in the first seven months of this year, and the e-commerce market share accounted for 11% in the past year. Among all categories, electronic devices and home products are the most popular among Brazilian consumers .

In terms of market share, electronic devices account for 43.1%, furniture and electrical appliances account for 27.8%, and clothing, shoes and hats account for about 10%. Brazilian consumers' purchasing power for electronic devices and household products continues to expand, and the daily search volume for household products alone on the Mercado Livre platform has reached 5 million times.

If we further break down these two categories, smartphones and computer accessories are the most popular in the electronic equipment category; in the home category, decorations and home appliances are the most popular. The study also shows that 18.5% of Brazilians have shopped online at least once, an increase of 8.4% year-on-year and 1.3% from the previous quarter.

The Brazilian market has always been the main market for Latin American sellers, and Amazon, Walmart, AliExpress, etc. have also entered the market one after another. Through Brazil, sellers can also get a glimpse of the consumption habits and trends in Latin America as a whole. In countries like Mexico, Peru, and Argentina, the popular product categories are roughly the same, mainly clothing and electronic devices.

Compared with large e-commerce companies such as Amazon and Walmart, the development of local e-commerce is not inferior at all. From the second quarter financial report, we can know that MercadoLibre's second quarter net income increased by 93.9% to US$1.7 billion; Magzine Luiza's second quarter revenue increased by 60% year-on-year to 13.7 billion reais; Americanas' second quarter total sales (GMV) reached 12.6 billion reais, a year-on-year growth rate of 32.6%.

In a previous IDC survey, 88% of respondents said they were willing to continue online shopping during the recovery period. At the same time, online shopping spending will increase by 25% and shopping frequency will also increase, which is undoubtedly good news for Latin American sellers.
