Due to the tight supply chain and supply exceeding demand, according to major Christmas sellers in the United States, the prices of local holiday decorations have increased this year.
Halloween and Christmas are approaching, which is a good time to place orders. Although it will usher in a peak sales period, both sellers and buyers are facing great pressure. Buyers are troubled by price increases, and sellers are worried about the problem of supply exceeding demand.
Increased costs lead to higher prices
As Christmas approaches, American consumers have begun to prepare for Christmas. Many have stated that they will purchase holiday products in advance. Christmas-related keywords on Amazon have increased significantly, but the situation this year may not be optimistic.
Freight rates have been rising this year, several times higher than last year. Facing the increase in costs, sellers have no choice but to raise the prices of their products. One seller said that he has raised the prices of his Halloween and Christmas-related products accordingly this year. "If I don't raise the prices, I won't make any money. This is a common phenomenon."
Among them, the prices of Christmas trees and decorations have risen significantly. According to a large Christmas product seller in the United States, the price of artificial Christmas trees has increased by 20%-25% this year , but it still cannot make up for the cost because the cost of each container has increased by an average of 300%.
The supply chain is tight and sellers have "no goods to sell"
In addition to price increases, sellers have something more worrying, which is that the goods may not arrive on time, and there will be nothing to sell when the time comes.
According to statistics from the National Christmas Tree Association , the overall size of the U.S. artificial Christmas tree market is between $1 billion and $2 billion a year , but this year it has encountered unprecedented setbacks in receiving inventory because many of these products are imported from China and have not yet arrived.
One seller said, “The product list is out, but there is no stock to sell. This is the first time for us that our goods did not arrive on time. We are still trying to figure out the exact location of the products. Are they still on the water or stranded at the port ? If this continues, we may go out of business. ”
In addition to Christmas trees, related decorations and toys are also in short supply in the United States, such as tree skirts, wreaths, and small ornaments on them. One seller said, "The supply of decorations this year has decreased by 50% compared to last year." The shortage of supply has led to a further increase in prices.
Rising freight rates, a shortage of containers, congestion, and labor shortages have created numerous challenges for this year’s peak season. USA Christmas E-commerce |
