After being informed of "false advertising", why are they still selling on Amazon?

According to foreign media reports, Amazon sells a mobile phone sticker called smartDOT. The product description claims that it "can protect users from the impact of mobile phone electromagnetic fields (EMF)" and "can be attached to all devices to reduce daily harmful magnetic radiation."

But in January this year , the BBC investigated the product, and the University of Surrey tested 4G mobile phones and Wi-Fi access points. Researchers found that there was no evidence that the smartDOT stickers could protect users from the electromagnetic fields (EMF) of mobile phones, regardless of whether they were affixed.

But at the time, the company Energydots said that measuring the "coordination" effect of the stickers required "biological testing"! And during the entire investigation period, SmartDOT mobile phone stickers have been sold on Amazon.

Despite the fact that eight months have passed since the investigation, and scientists telling the BBC that the smartDOT stickers "are not effective," listings for the product still appear on Amazon. The Energydots company told the BBC it is changing its product descriptions, advertising and marketing on its website and platforms like Amazon.

Just recently, the Advertising Standards Authority ( ASA) found that Global EMF Solutions Ltd was still claiming on the Energydots website that EMF was harmful and that its mobile phone stickers could provide "protection" to users. However, the ASA ruled that it could not prove that EMF from wireless devices was harmful to health.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) criticised claims on the manufacturer's website and told the company it could no longer use claims such as: "SmartDOT protects users from EMFs emitted by wireless devices and helps users feel more energised, more focused and less stressed."

Despite the ASA's ruling on the matter, the Energydot store is still selling the smartDOT sticker on Amazon. It was not until the BBC contacted the product company and the ASA that the SmartDOT product listing was removed from the Energydot Amazon store, but the phone sticker is still for sale elsewhere on Amazon.

Energydot told the BBC it was changing its website, marketing materials, product descriptions and advertising in light of the ASA's ruling. The company said its new listing with Amazon was currently "under review" and the changes would be completed by September 13.

When asked what it thought of smartDOT, the company said its marketing materials would be “legally compliant,” given that it could no longer claim to “protect” users from electromagnetic fields.

Here the editor would like to say that after being investigated and clearly informed that the store’s products did not have the advertised effect, they were still sold on Amazon for eight months. This is an obvious act of deceiving consumers. In order to sell products and increase profits, they completely disregarded the rights of consumers. After all, they have been punished. Sellers must take this as a warning, operate in good faith, and consciously abide by industry rules.
