Yesterday, eBay released a new announcement stating that sellers now need to provide some additional information.
eBay stressed that according to the French Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) law, sellers need to provide some additional information in the listing of some categories on the eBay platform . EPR aims to help reduce and manage waste and promote sustainable development. Sellers can view more information on eBay's help page.
Subsequently, eBay reminded sellers that they need to understand the following EPR legal summary:
1. Unique Producer Identification Numbers (UPIN) The Unique Identification Number ( UPIN) provides information about the product, any packaging added to the product, and any paper documents added to the package.
2. Ecological participation fee (also known as "recycling fee") This fee is the recycling fee for furniture and electronic appliances related categories.
3. Repair score The Repair Rating is designed to help buyers understand how easy or difficult it is to repair a product. Products are rated from 1-10 based on how easy or difficult it is to repair .
4. Recycling Policy In some cases, when sellers sell a brand new item, they must provide free recycling services to buyers. eBay reminds sellers to discuss the next steps with "Eco-organisme" or logistics providers .
Eco-organisme is a company authorized by the relevant authorities to manage the end of life of products placed on the market (including waste collection, sorting, recycling and repair) within the legal framework of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) .
In addition, eBay said that sellers may need to take the following steps according to the EPR policy requirements:
1. If the seller produces or imports items in France, they will need to register with the relevant Eco-organisme. (Each Eco-organisme manages different categories.)
2. If the seller sells items produced in France or imported into France, you will need to contact the supplier to ensure that the items comply with EPR regulations.
3. Sellers will receive more information in the coming weeks. eBay will inform sellers how to modify the product information published on the eBay France site to comply with relevant regulations.
In the meantime, eBay recommends that sellers consult legal counsel to understand and prepare for the actions to be taken.
