Yien.com learned that Amazon released the latest announcement on deleting HTML tags on June 30.
The announcement stated that support for the use of HTML tags in product descriptions on product detail pages will be discontinued after July 30, 2021. Therefore , if sellers have products with HTML tags, they will need to update the product details page through the seller platform or commonly used channels before July 30.
If HTML tags are not removed after July 30, any product descriptions containing HTML tags on the product detail page will stop displaying. This means that if one line of the product description uses HTML tags, that line may be deleted or simply not displayed, and product sales will be affected.
Amazon has previously issued several announcements to remind sellers that Amazon detail pages no longer support the use of HTML tags .
However, some sellers complained that as the manufacturer and the only seller, they submitted product detail pages without HTML tags or all capital letters more than a month ago, but Amazon has not approved these edits so far.
" For years, Amazon has been saying: We don't support line breaks and bold text in the product description editor. Please use HTML tags to separate paragraphs and highlight the most important words in the product description. But now they are saying: Forget it. We will pile everything in the product description so that no one can read it. If you want good product descriptions, please register your brand and use A+ Content. " A straightforward seller sneered.
Indeed, despite Amazon’s claims that this is to help sellers provide better security and provide the versatility of publishing products on non- HTML devices .
However, it’s not hard to get Amazon’s robots to ignore HTML! So one has to wonder if Amazon’s purpose in doing this is to increase the value of Brand Registry and A+ Content by further reducing the free options . Since free features are forced to be ugly, the hope is that more people will pay for beautiful features.
It is reported that some sellers have had their HTML tags on their product detail pages deleted, and strange bold fonts appeared on some meaningless text, as if someone had omitted a tag or something, and now the entire section is in bold and difficult to read.
From the consumer's perspective, if this happens, the shopping and checkout experience will be very bad, which will greatly affect the sales of the goods.
However, Amazon has repeatedly emphasized the removal of HTML tags, and it seems that Amazon is determined to implement this new rule. Sellers should delete HTML tags as soon as possible and update the detail pages in a timely manner! Amazon announcement Label |
