Sales soared 4900%! Pink Crocs suddenly became popular and topped the Amazon bestseller list

Recently, an Instagram tweet from American rapper Nicki Minaj received 4.7 million likes , making a pair of pink crocodile thick-soled shoes, Pink Crocs, a hit.

Pink Crocs became popular overnight, with sales increasing by 4900%

In the photo accompanying the post, Nicki Minaj wore only a pair of pink Crocs with a colorful Jibbitz print, including Chanel's signature double-C logo. Minaj covered herself with two pink heart-shaped pillows and accessorized with several diamond necklaces , bracelets and anklets while sitting at a desk in an all-pink office .

It's unclear if the photo hints at a future collaboration between Minaj and Crocs , but it's clear her fans are clamoring to buy the shoes as they love the statement product .

It is reported that due to her tweet , sales of the Pink Crocs shoes surged 4,900% , even crashing the retailer's website at one point , and became one of Amazon's best-selling products .

The makers of Crocs are hoping to send gift baskets to Nicki Minaj after her recent Instagram posts caused interest in their products to soar according to global Google Trends.

Google searches for "Pink Crocs" surged 100% after Nicki Minaj uploaded a photo of herself sitting nearly nude on a table wearing the comfy foam-soled shoes .

Social media and celebrity influence drive Crocs' popularity

The once-mocked shoe brand has seen growth over the past year as fans posted customized Crocs on social media. Crocs became popular during the pandemic , sending stocks soaring, the company’s revenue to record highs and its stock price up 11% .

According to MarketWatch , Crocs' rise in popularity could be due to people's desire for comfortable styles during quarantine during the pandemic, as well as the brand's recent collaborations with pop stars like Post Malone . It's safe to say that celebrity endorsements like Nicki Mina have helped bring back the brand , which nearly went bankrupt a few years ago .

The combined effect of celebrity and social media traffic has made Crocs a hot brand overnight , especially the Pink Crocs, which is almost out of stock. Countless Instagram fans flocked to the website to buy these shoes.

The popularity of Crocs has led to the emergence of a new fashion trend. Noah Zagor, senior menswear editor at trend forecasting organization WGSN, said in a recent interview: "I don't think it will disappear from fashion for a while. It has become a very practical shoe that you wear throughout your life."

Pink Crocs has undoubtedly become another hot product, and the road to its popularity has also given sellers a new idea. When sellers create their own hot products, it may be a very good idea to use the celebrity effect and social media.
