South Korean e-commerce company Coupang will participate in the "2021 P4G Summit"

Coupang's " Rocket Delivery " model will be introduced as an environmentally friendly model through logistics innovation at the " 2021 P4G Seoul Summit " to be held in Seoul next month .

Coupag announced on the 20th that it has signed a business agreement (MOU) to cooperate in achieving the vision of carbon neutrality through the restoration of inclusive green. Coupang is the only domestic e - commerce company in South Korea to participate in the "2021 P4G Seoul Summit".

The P4G (Global Green Goals 2030) Summit is an international environment-related conference in which governments , businesses and civil society participate. This year's event will be held in Seoul for two days from May 30 to 31.

Coupang said: " Rocket Delivery has invested trillions of won by building its own 'end-to-end' logistics network, which has greatly reduced environmental waste and other inefficiencies caused by traditional e-commerce. "

The existing e-commerce model is that sellers receive products from manufacturers, repackage them for delivery to customers, and then send them to couriers. Therefore, they have to go through many logistics companies, and in this process, a large amount of cushioning materials and packaging materials are needed to prevent the goods from being damaged.

On the contrary, Rocket Delivery is mostly an "end-to-end" method of directly purchasing and delivering products , and all processes are directly managed by Coupang , so the consumption of packaging materials can be greatly reduced.

In particular, artificial intelligence (AI) technology is used to optimize movement routes and specify the loading location within the vehicle for individual goods so that they can be delivered safely. The results show that more than 75% of Coupang's rocket delivery products are delivered in single-layer bags without cartons or other unnecessary packaging.

In addition, Coupang completely eliminated the existing industry's styrofoam boxes for fresh food delivery and launched its own recycled eco-friendly bags. When customers who buy fresh food simply take out the products and leave them at the door, Coupang's delivery staff can recycle the eco-friendly bags after cleaning and disinfecting.

Coupang CEO said, "Amid the growing awareness of the importance of ESG, we are very pleased to be selected as an official participating company of the P4G Summit, which aims to achieve climate change and carbon neutrality. We will expand investment in environmentally friendly technologies such as the use of eco-friendly bags and electric vehicle transportation , and strive to lead the carbon neutrality of the Korean e-commerce industry ."
