After 8 months of waiting, the seller suffered a loss of more than 1 million. He is really vomiting blood after falling into these traps!

On the road of cross-border e-commerce, sellers will fall into countless pitfalls, one of which must be mentioned, that is logistics.

In this regard, even if sellers have carefully selected freight forwarders and paid close attention to the freight environment, uncertainties are still everywhere.

The freight forwarder concealed the loss of 200 pieces of goods and did not report it. The seller took 4 AtoZ

There is a saying in the seller circle: A reliable freight forwarder is harder to find than a wife.

In the deep pit of logistics, in addition to the delay problem, another thing that makes sellers bleed is the loss of items.

A few days ago, a seller said angrily that he paid about 140,000 yuan in logistics fees in less than two months. He thought he could get a reliable freight forwarder, but ended up getting 4 AtoZs.

According to the seller, he ships 2 to 5 boxes every day, with logistics costs of 3,000 to 6,000 yuan, and the logistics costs are settled in cash directly the next day.

But what people didn't expect was that the seller's "generosity" resulted in 200 pieces of goods being lost, and the freight forwarder concealed the fact for nearly three months without giving any feedback. " It was only when they accidentally let it slip during a phone call that I learned that the pieces were lost. They internally pressured their employees not to tell anyone. "

Not only that, the seller also received 4 AtoZ because of this incident.

In fact, this is not an isolated case. It is not uncommon for freight forwarders to run away after an incident. Recently, the editor also noticed such a case:

Last June, a seller in Shenzhen shipped a batch of goods worth more than 1 million yuan to the United States by sea. However, the goods, which should have arrived at the destination 45 days after being sent, not only did not arrive for 8 months, but also "disappeared" in the end, and the freight forwarder was also nowhere to be found.

Another customer in the same cabinet had a package of tea that was found to have problems by the customs and needed to wait for processing. It took eight months to process . During this period, when the seller inquired about the status of the goods, the result was always "being processed". In early February this year, the freight forwarder suddenly could not be contacted, and when the seller went to the door, he found that the freight forwarder had been deserted.

The goods are on Evergreen's ship. Does the seller who did not purchase insurance have to pay compensation before unloading the goods?

Sellers have their own reasons for losing goods, but when the goods are shipped on the EVER GIVEN (the giant ship that blocked the Suez Canal), it is really hard to explain because the cargo owners need to pay compensation together with the shipping company.

After six days of efforts by the Egyptian authorities and relevant parties , EVER GIVEN has been rescued and successfully escaped . Shipping in the Suez Canal is gradually returning to normal , but the ship's Japanese owner has declared a general average loss.

General average means that the beneficiaries share the losses and expenses sacrificed for the common benefit of everyone. In other words, the cargo owner who did not sell insurance this time will have to pay together with the shipping company EVER GIVEN.

A similar general average case is the Maersk Honam fire in 2018, where general average was also declared. Assuming the cargo is worth $100,000, the owner of the cargo needs to pay a total of $54,000 in security to unload the cargo.

A seller had previously joked on Weibo: "The freight forwarder sent me a notice of general average, and then I realized that my goods were on the stranded ship that the whole world was watching. I was laughing at that little excavator before ..."

Some freight forwarders also reminded that if you don’t buy insurance, the shipping company will ask the owner to pay the money before the goods are delivered . Shippers who often take ocean routes should buy marine insurance. However, many sellers do not buy insurance to save money. If the shipper buys insurance this time, it will be much easier because the deposit will be paid by the insurance company.

To reduce logistics risks, sellers and logistics providers can do this...

Due to the instability of logistics, freight forwarders usually remind sellers to buy insurance, which can not only protect customers' goods, but also reduce losses after accidents.

The editor learned that a logistics company in Shenzhen that does FBA first-leg transportation has had a stable logistics insurance cooperation with Huafuda for many years. Every time the insured goods are reported to be lost or damaged , its customer service staff connects with the claims service very quickly, which really saves a lot of manpower costs. It is also more reassuring to have logistics insurance to protect the goods.

In addition to the risks of finding a reliable freight forwarder to ship goods, logistics companies also face various risks during the transportation of goods. In order to protect the interests of sellers and logistics companies, Huafuda has cooperated with leading insurance companies (PICC, China Life Property and Casualty Insurance, Ping An Property and Casualty Insurance, etc.) to customize insurance products: description discrepancy insurance, delay and damage insurance, cross-border return insurance, shelf insurance, Amazon comprehensive commercial liability insurance, etc.

Huafuda is an officially recognized insurance service provider for mainstream e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, eBay, Wish, and Shopee. It has a market share of over 50%, has accumulated 200,000 export sellers, and has insured more than 500 million orders in total.
