eBay's new announcement: SpeedPAK shipping fee adjustment notice for all routes starting April 1

On March 29, eBay China's official website released a notice on the adjustment of SpeedPAK shipping rates for various routes starting from April 1, 2021. The announcement stated that starting from April 1, 2021 Beijing time, SpeedPAK will adjust the shipping rates for SpeedPAK and SpeedPAK Mini shipped from mainland China and Hong Kong.

The specific freight adjustments are as follows:

As can be seen from the table, the freight rates for all routes have been increased in this freight rate adjustment, and the last freight rate adjustment was on March 16. The interval between freight rate adjustments is so short that it is difficult not to associate it with the blockage of the Suez Canal.

According to the latest news, the Ever Given will first move to the anchorage in the Great Bitter Lake waters of the Suez Canal for a ship seaworthiness inspection. The subsequent voyage and cargo transportation of this container ship will be adjusted and arranged as necessary based on the inspection results.

Sources said that when the Ever Given arrives at the Great Bitter Lake and anchors, the ships in the Suez Canal will set sail again. At present, there are at least 422 ships waiting to pass through the canal, and the Suez Canal Authority has decided that these ships will pass through the canal on a first-come, first-served basis, and ships carrying livestock will be allowed to pass in the first fleet of the day.

According to Lloyds' list, although many ships have changed their route to the Cape of Good Hope in Africa, there are still more than 420 ships worth billions of dollars that will transit the canal. The waterway will operate 24 hours a day to facilitate the passage of ships, and two fleets will be able to pass through smoothly every day.

Authorities said it would take about three and a half days to clear the jam, while Maersk, the world's largest shipping company, estimated it would take twice as long. Data firm Refinitiv estimated it could take more than 10 days.

In addition, after the fully loaded giant ship is rescued, a large number of container ships will arrive at major hub ports in Europe, which will also put pressure on port facilities and inland basic transportation.

This unexpected disaster has had a significant impact on logistics and transportation around the world, making people see the fragility of the global supply chain. Sellers have to face rising freight rates and logistics delays from major logistics suppliers and shipping companies.
