Quick view for sellers: Advertising statistics of various channels (Part 2)

How is the advertising development status of different channels? Let’s take a look at the following advertising statistics

Google Ads

As a search engine giant, Google's strength is unquestionable. Statistics show that 90% of people who use the Internet see Google ads; 63% of people are likely to click on Google ads.

Among them, the average click-through rate (CTR) of search ads was 3.17%, and the average cost per click (CPC) was US$2.69; while the CTR of display ads was 0.46%, and the CPC was US$0.63.

Display ads

Display advertising can be used to build brand awareness and increase sales. According to Zenith , global Internet display advertising spending will reach $177.6 billion by 2021 .

More and more companies are adopting programmatic display advertising to reach internet users in the U.S. eMarketer reports that by 2021, U.S. companies’ spending on programmatic digital display advertising is expected to reach $79.75 billion, accounting for 86.5% of total digital ad spending.

It can be found that whether it is the social media advertising, mobile advertising, video advertising mentioned in " Sellers' Quick View: Advertising Statistics of Various Channels (I) " , or the Google advertising and display advertising mentioned above, they all fall into the category of online advertising.

It’s true that the marketing industry is becoming increasingly digital. According to a report by PubMatic , digital ad spending surpassed traditional media spending in 2019.

However, traditional advertising has not been completely abandoned. According to data released by eMarketer in TechCrunch , by 2021, the market share of traditional advertising will still account for 38% of the total advertising budget.

Print Advertising

Newspaper and magazine advertising are two important pillars of print advertising. By 2021, global advertising spending on print advertising is expected to reach 227.6 million people; global marketers' spending on global print advertising is expected to reach US$44.173 billion.

Billboard Advertising

In the age of digital advertising, there are approximately 343,000 billboards in the United States, and 71% of people will notice the information on billboards.

According to a Nielsen report , approximately 50% of American adults use Google or other search engines to find information after seeing a billboard ad ; and 38% of American adults visit a Facebook page or post a message on Facebook after seeing a billboard or other outdoor advertisement.

In summary, there are many advertising channels, and sellers should place targeted advertisements based on their products and audiences. In addition, understanding the consumer's purchase cycle and arranging the timing of advertisements accordingly can greatly promote sales.
