64% of American consumers plan to spend, and online sales become popular

Wells Fargo Bank recently published its latest research. The research data shows that after experiencing the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the shopping behavior of American consumers may change permanently. And among the purchases chosen by American consumers, the demand for beauty and clothing products is likely to rebound this year.

Relevant data shows that due to the epidemic, 64% of consumers in the United States are reducing their spending. After the epidemic is over, 40% of these consumers plan to return to their previous consumption levels, and 27% said they want to have some fun after the epidemic is over.

As for the detailed shopping plans of American consumers, survey data show that Americans' shopping may rebound in the second half of 2021, especially in the beauty and apparel industries.

Previously, survey data from an institution showed that in 2020, the clothing industry has been a laggard due to the epidemic, with its sales falling by 14.9% since the beginning of this year. However, as the weather warms up and the epidemic in the United States is gradually under control, the sales of the clothing industry are expected to reach a new high.

Home apparel, which has been hot-selling due to the epidemic, will continue to sell well, especially casual clothing, household goods, and sports shoes. Nearly one-third of consumers said that home is an important place in their lives, and after the epidemic is over, household goods will also be their main consumer goods.

In addition, according to sales data in February, although the overall sales of the US apparel industry declined, online sales increased by 47% year-on-year. Therefore, online sales will still be one of the main channels for clothing sales.

Another 40% of consumers said that they will buy beauty products and cosmetics again after the epidemic is over, because they will attend more parties and go outings, and exquisite makeup is an indispensable social weapon for them.

Easter in the United States is coming soon, and sociable Americans will definitely get together. During this period, they will also buy more holiday clothing and related peripheral products. Therefore, sellers can pay close attention and make good product selection to welcome the holiday boom.
