Digby Paints Canada's online paint store grew above average during the pandemic

During the epidemic , the growth of Digby Paint online paint store in Canada exceeded the average

Digby Paint is Canada's first fully online paint store. It opened two months before the outbreak of the epidemic. Its sales continued to grow during the epidemic, even exceeding the average growth rate of e-commerce predicted in Canada.

This is Canada's first fully online paint store . In 2019 , Emily Kinread and Jill Torrance tested their online paint store and felt the time was right, so they opened Digby Paint in January 2020 , aiming to use their knowledge to save people from visiting stores and browsing thousands of color swatches .

Digby Paint encountered an outbreak soon after it opened. People had to stay at home and many physical stores were closed , but the epidemic actually helped Digby Paint .

"The coronavirus pandemic prompted people to shop online, which caused some supply issues early on, but our team managed to cope successfully," Kinread said .

The Digby Paint online site includes a calculator to help customers work out how much paint they need , as well as a live chat feature. Customers can pick up their orders in Hamilton or wait for the parcel to be delivered to their home .

Torrance likens their store to meal kits that people buy on the internet. Customers can purchase wall paint, wall trim, color swatches to sample their selections, or they can purchase paint supplies directly . Instead of offering thousands of colors, the team narrowed it down to about 50 trim colors and 60 wall colors. Digby paint also offers a gray hue called "Hammer." Each color has color matching suggestions to complement multiple color combinations, and the paint is environmentally friendly.

If you are not sure whether a certain color is suitable , you can buy a 3-inch x 10-inch color card and stick it on the wall to see the effect .

Torrance said they are using Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest to reach most of their customers. She said the business is growing steadily, at nearly double the rate of Canada’s 2020 e-commerce growth forecast.

After the COVID-19 pandemic caused a cooling of consumption , home improvement spending has picked up again , with many people embarking on home improvements in an attempt to live more comfortably during the epidemic .

Digby Paint currently sells paint mainly in Ontario, but Emily Kinread and Jill Torrance said their business will be open to all of Canada, with the goal of becoming a national company.

As a model of online sales, the setting and traffic diversion methods of Digby paint's online store are very worthy of reference.
