3.15 Blacklist: Nearly 50% of imported baby and child consumer products are substandard, and the substandard rate of stationery is as high as 91.7%

On March 15, Shanghai Customs held a press conference on food inspection and March 15 Consumer Rights Day, and announced typical cases of unqualified import and export commodity inspection in 2020 .

It is reported that many of the products sampled this time involved imported baby products with serious problems. Shanghai Customs conducted risk monitoring on 199 batches of five major categories of imported baby consumer products, including children's scooters, baby clothing, baby food contact products, baby diapers, and stationery .

A total of 95 batches of unqualified products were found , with an overall unqualified rate of 47.7%, nearly half of the total. The unqualified rate is very high, and the safety of imported baby and child consumer products is not optimistic. Among them, the unqualified rate of children's stationery is as high as 91.7%.

Once this data came out, it undoubtedly made many parents think deeply. Many consumers originally chose to buy a large number of imported products for their superiority, but now the frequent safety problems of imported products have caused headaches for countless consumers, especially some parents who are afraid that their children will be harmed.

Yesterday, the General Administration of Customs also released a set of latest data . In 2020, the customs conducted supervisory inspections on 817 batches of imported infant and child consumer products, and detected 252 batches as unqualified , with an unqualified rate as high as 30.8%.

The unqualified products mainly include children's clothing with unqualified straps, which may cause suffocation due to the straps getting around the neck; children's scooters with unqualified structures, which may pose a huge safety hazard.

It seems that consumers must maintain a very good concept and selection standards for imported products, because not all imported products are good.

The editor reminds all consumers that when buying imported children's products, they must be more careful and confidently check the product labels and inspection reports and carefully review them . At the same time, you can also pay more attention to domestic products.

In recent years, China's product review standards have become more stringent, and the quality of Chinese-made products has continued to improve. Consumers can carefully select suitable and good domestic products.
