This happened at 3:30 pm on March 1 , shortly after the opening of the first online foreign trade exhibition in 2021 , the Alibaba International Station March New Trade Festival .

 

After the foreign trade industry experienced a roller coaster-like 2020 , digital new foreign trade is becoming an important choice for Chinese foreign trade merchants to emerge as a new force and turn the tide. In the past year, China's cross-border e-commerce exports increased by 40.1 % year-on-year ; as a representative enterprise of cross-border e-commerce platforms, Alibaba International Station's annual exports increased by 101 % year-on-year , outperforming the market at a rate more than twice that of the market.

 

As the first online exhibition after the beginning of the year, the March New Trade Festival is not only an online matchmaking meeting for new products in various industries throughout the year, but also a fermentation site for new trends throughout the year .

 

This time, Alibaba International Station selected 1 million new products from 30 industries and set up 4,000 live broadcasts of new product launches at the venue. Not only that, the platform also used algorithms to form a more selected list of new products from the millions of new products based on the number of product searches and clicks. From the moment overseas buyers enter the platform, they are presented with differentiated recommended products - by setting up buyers and products in different layers and scenarios, a close combination of technology and business is achieved, allowing buyers to find the most suitable products as quickly as possible.

 

Since last year, the recurrence of the epidemic and the formation of consumer habits have continued to drive the growth of online demand. In particular, the rise of the " stay-at-home economy " is reshaping global living and consumption habits and stimulating the development of new digital foreign trade. Yijia Optoelectronics' new smart color-adjusting floodlights cater to the garden decoration needs of people in Europe and the United States after the "unblocking" .

Data from Alibaba International Station showed that within 4 hours, 31 minutes and 30 seconds of the opening , the export transaction volume of merchants on the platform had exceeded that of the entire day last year. The number of purchase orders and the number of merchants receiving purchase orders both doubled.

 

At the same time, as one of the initiatives of the New Trade Festival in March, Alibaba International Station launched arrival and delivery guarantees, and invested nearly 20 million yuan to reduce the logistics costs of the first order for new buyers.

 

"After experiencing the epidemic, we realized that only by serving buyers well can we bring more business opportunities to Chinese merchants." Zhang Kuo, vice president of Alibaba Group and general manager of Alibaba International Station, said that in the future, the platform will strengthen the construction of tiered service value for buyers and enhance buyer stickiness in terms of logistics, capital flow and delivery standards .

 

Under the epidemic, the world is accelerating into consumer stratification, and Chinese manufacturing has ushered in opportunities for brands to go global. The International Station also launched the "Super Star Brand" plan during the March New Trade Festival. In the first phase, 10 Chinese manufacturers were selected to help them build their own brands through the International Station.

 

In the past year, Alibaba International Station has invested 2 billion yuan to help traditional foreign trade merchants and young entrepreneurs seize the opportunities of new foreign trade. Through the "10 billion ecological investment fund", it has accelerated the improvement of the "digital new foreign trade" track to help small and medium-sized enterprises open up sources of revenue and improve efficiency.

 

Digitalization is one of the trends in global trade. When the New Trade Festival arrived in March this year, ambassadors from seven countries including Belgium, Malaysia, Pakistan, Uruguay, Zimbabwe, Madagascar and Cape Verde jointly called on the world to embark on the digital trade track and expand business with Alibaba.
