Home quarantine has postponed Russians' travel and entertainment plans, and many people work, study, entertain and even exercise at home. In order to create a more comfortable environment for themselves, people have been searching and buying furniture and interior products online. A large amount of demand has also been reflected in the market. Avito said that the product range of furniture and interior products on the website last year expanded by 31% compared with 2019.
In 2020 , Russians searched for furniture and interior items on Avito 47% more frequently than in 2019. The average price of such products was 14,899 rubles, which was 8% more expensive than in 2019.
Avito analyzed the advertisements, product prices and searches of the furniture and interior products categories on the website and came up with the top ten categories of furniture and interior products in Russia in 2020: sofas, cabinets, swivel chairs, beds, armchairs, wall units, chests with drawers, chairs, kitchen sets, and carpets.
In addition to the epidemic, Russia's low mortgage rates have boosted home purchases, leading to an increase in demand for furniture and interior items. According to Avito, beds, sofas and armchairs are the most popular, accounting for about 32% of total furniture demand. The average price of such products is 7,900 rubles, which is 13% more expensive than in 2019. Another popular item is cabinets and dressing tables, accounting for 16% of total demand. The average price of such products has risen by 8% to 6,100 rubles. Finally, tables and chairs account for 12% of total demand, with an average price of 3,500 rubles.
In terms of interior decoration, demand for textiles grew the fastest, up 54% year-on-year. Demand for decorations and artworks such as paintings, vases and sculptures grew 47% year-on-year. In addition, demand for lighting, coasters and computer tables also increased significantly.
Interestingly, the biggest demand for these products is not in big cities like Moscow, but in Izhevsk, where demand increased by 58% year-on-year, followed by Krasnodar, Kirov, St. Petersburg, and Moscow, where demand increased by 57%, 56%, 49%, and 4% year-on-year, respectively. Russia |
