Platform Logistics

The logistics mode of storage and distribution by Konga platform warehouse is referred to as FBK. Sim Shagaya, the founder of Konga, said at the Nigerian e-commerce conference last year that Konga not only wants to become an e-commerce platform, but also wants to establish its own logistics system to ensure the rapid delivery of goods across the country. Now Konga has established its own logistics company Konga Express, and will no longer use third-party logistics companies such as DHL as before.

FBK is somewhat similar to Amazon's FBA. Konga will deduct storage fees based on the weight of the product, and you need to mark the packaging boxes yourself, and store the products from 9:00am to 16:00pm. Products that Konga considers to be dangerous goods cannot enter the FBK warehouse. Konga currently has three warehouses, located in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt. The advantage of using FBK is that sellers can receive payment within three working days after the order is delivered. If it is delivered through the FBM channel, it will take up to 7 days.

Domain name dispute with Jumia

In 2014, Jumia and Konga went to court over a domain name dispute because Jumia registered multiple Konga-related domain names outside Nigeria, including konga.cd (Côte d’Ivoire), konga.cm (Cameroon), konga.ly (Libya), etc. Konga’s counterattack was to “buy” the keyword “Jumai” in Google search. The alphabetical order of this word and Jumia is slightly different, so users will jump directly to Konga’s official website as soon as they search for “Jumai”.
