Oral-B is a brand of toothbrushes and other dental care products produced by Procter & Gamble, which acquired Gillette in 2005. The brand also includes electric toothbrushes and interdental products.

The development history of Oral-B

Before 1980s

1921 - Max Braing opened an electrical appliance factory in Frankfurt, Germany.

1950 - California periodontist Dr. Rob Houston designs the first Oral-B toothbrush. The toothbrush is named Oral-B 60 because it has 60 bristles. Dr. Houston opens a small family business to sell toothbrushes.

1958 - Braun receives honors from the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Brussels World's Fair.

1963 - Braun develops a prototype electric toothbrush called the "Mayadent".

1967 - Gillette acquires Braun.

1969 - The Oral-B toothbrush makes its first appearance on the moon during the Apollo 11 mission.

1978 - The first electric toothbrush that simulated the left and right movement of a manual toothbrush, called "D1", was mass-produced and sold well in Europe.

1980s

1981 - Oral-B "Right Angle" is released.

1984 - Gillette acquires Oral-B, Braun launches the first electric toothbrush that combines vertical and horizontal motions. Star Wars toothbrushes for children are launched.

1986 - "Muppets" toothbrushes and toothpaste for children are released.

1987 - The first product designed in collaboration with Braun, Oral-B "Ultra Plus", was launched.

1991 - D5 is launched, clinically proven to clean teeth better than manual brushes. Oral-B launches display bristle toothbrush. Oral-B acquires Duralon in Chile.

1992 - Oral-B's "Plaque Control Center OC5", which combines an electric toothbrush and an oral irrigator, was released.

1993 - Oral-B's Advantage toothbrush, with rows of bristles of varying heights, is released.

1994 - The D7 (with display bristles and a non-slip handle) and the Oral-B "Compact Interdental" toothbrush are released.

1995 - Squish Grip and Gripper toothbrushes, flexible dental floss (UltraFloss) are launched, and Oral-B acquires Pro's Latin American business.

1996 - Oral-B launches the Advantage Control Grip toothbrush with micro-textured bristles and two ergonomic handle materials. D9 (Oral-B Plaque Remover) and Oral-B Interclean Interdental Plaque Remover are launched.

1997 - Oral-B forms partnership with Nickelodeon, and Oral-B acquires Prudent's Indian business.

1998 - Oral-B's 3D Plaque Remover, CrossAction and SATINfloss are launched.

2000 - Oral-B's 3D Excel, Kids' Power and Oral-B battery-powered electric toothbrush were launched.

2001 - Oral-B obtains exclusive authorization from Disney to sell manual, electric and rechargeable toothbrushes printed with Mickey Mouse, Winnie the Pooh, Buzz Lightyear and Disney Princesses.

The launch of the Oral-B Growth-Type Children's Toothbrush in 2003 historically introduced the new concept of segmented tooth care for children.

In 2005, the first Braun Oral-B D25 Ruixiang professional care electric toothbrush full of digital Lingrui technology was launched. It has innovative "Lingrui technology" and Lingrui chips built into the handle and brush head. It automatically tracks the user's usage status, reminds the best teeth cleaning mode, and records the usage information of the whole family at the same time, giving you comprehensive brushing suggestions and the most effective oral care plan, opening up a new intelligent field for electric toothbrushes.

In 2006, the D12 Jingyue series electric toothbrush was launched.
