Phone Swipe FAQ

Q: Are there any PCI compliance fees?

A: There is no PCI compliance fee charged to your "merchant" account using a mobile card reader.

Q: Can I accept Flex Card payments on my mobile card reader?

A: To be able to accept Flex Card payments you must be a member of the SIGIS you follow, you can find out more information on their website: http://www.sig-is.org.

If you get approved by them, let us know and we'll get you set up to accept Flex cards on your mobile card reader.

Q: Can I have some items taxable and others not taxable?

A: Yes, of course you can.

Using the mobile card reader, you can create individual items in your inventory to manage various services and products. When creating an item, you can choose whether the item is taxable or not.

Q: Are there any trading or monthly trading volume limits?

A: We don't have limits like some of our competitors. When you sign up for a Mobile Phone Swiper account, you establish your own monthly sales and transaction amount limits. As long as the numbers you provide are reasonable, they will usually be accepted. For example, if you sell T-shirts and enter that you make $5,000 in monthly sales and a transaction limit of $250, you'll be fine. However, if you say your transaction limit is $10,000, you'll have to explain why you sold $10,000 of T-shirts in a single transaction. If you end up exceeding the limits you set, they can be adjusted upwards after you've been with us for a few months.

Q: Does Mobile Phone Swiper allow merchants to accept EBT (food stamp) payments?

No, Mobile Phone Swiper does not currently allow EBT or Food Stamp transactions.

Q: Do I need an internet connection to use the mobile card reader?

A: To use Mobile Phone Swiper, you need your smartphone or smart device (iPhone, iPad, Android or Blackberry) to be connected to WIFI or 3G/4G wireless service. However, the Mobile Phone Swiper app does allow you to store and forward card transactions that occur when you don't have an Internet connection. Then, once you have a connection, you can submit those transactions.

Q: What is a mobile card reader?

A: Mobile Phone Swiper is a free mobile app and credit card reader that turns your smartphone, iPad or tablet into a mobile point of sale terminal, allowing you to accept credit card payments anywhere, anytime.

Q: Is the mobile card reader encrypted?

A: Yes, Mobile Phone Swiper Credit Card Reader provides "end-to-end" encryption for your transactions. Credit card data is never stored on your mobile device or in the Mobile Phone Swiper app.

Q: Do I have to apply for my merchant account through your website to use the mobile card reader?

A: Yes, the Mobile Phone Swiper app only works with merchant accounts set up by us.
