What is Lazada? Lazada Review, Features

Lazada is the largest online shopping mall in Southeast Asia, with daily network traffic reaching more than 4 million, and customers coming from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam and other countries.


Lazada Overview

  • Launched in March 2012, Lazada is the leading online shopping platform in Southeast Asia with branches in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Lazada also has offices in Hong Kong, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and Russia.

  • Consumers can access the platform through mobile devices or computer websites. It offers a variety of payment methods including cash on delivery, as well as comprehensive customer service and free returns. The product categories cover consumer electronics, household goods, and fashion, allowing sellers to reach approximately 550 million consumers in six Southeast Asian countries.

Information required for opening a store

1. Registration form (the company and applicant names must be in Chinese and English, and the address must be in English);

2. New MP Seller Account Information form;

3. Business license of the company to be applied for, and a copy of the ID card of the applicant or legal representative;

4. Register a Payoneer corporate account with the same company name (register here).

According to the platform, there are no fixed fees on Lazada, no product display fees, and no other hidden fees. The platform only charges commissions based on the unit price of the order seller's products. Lazada's fee structure is a low commission plus a 2% transaction fee (including credit card, handling fees, marketing and local customer service fees). Only after the product is successfully sold will the platform charge the corresponding commission and transaction fees according to the product category.

Procedure for opening a store

Step 1: Register an account

(1) Open the Lazada merchant website, click the registration section, and fill in the following relevant information. Official website: https://www.lazada-seller.cn/

Note:

(1) Select Mainland China and use a valid Chinese mobile phone number for identity verification.

(2) You need to use your company’s Alipay account for verification. If you do not have your company’s Alipay account, you must apply for it in advance.

(3) The password must be at least 8 characters long and contain at least 1 letter, 1 number and 1 symbol.

(4) Alipay verification steps:

  • Click to verify Alipay

  • Enter the enterprise Alipay verification page;

  • Open the corporate Alipay account on your mobile phone, scan, or manually enter your account number and password to log in.

(5) Before joining Lazada, new merchants are requested to carefully read the contents of the two cross-border contracts!

Note:

① How to choose the main product category of the store?

  • Login URL: https://www.lazada.sg/

  • View categories at all levels and check which first-level category the products sold in the store belong to

  • Check the table below and select the corresponding category group. For example, for audio equipment, select Audio as the first-level category, and the corresponding category group is 3c digital

② Fill in the questionnaire:

  • Please fill in the real company information;

  • Regular visits and verifications will be carried out in the future. Once false information is found, the store will be closed.

Step 3: Upload products

Please upload real products, otherwise your application will be rejected!

Step 4: Bind your payment account

Note:

  • Alipay only supports five countries (MY, SG, TH, PN, ID), not VN;

  • Payoneer needs to be applied in advance;

  • The receiving account must be a corporate account, not a personal account.


Qualification review

(1) Submit your application: Fill in the above information as required. After successful submission, please wait patiently for Alibaba Customer Service to conduct relevant review.

(2) Audit results: There are two types: "Audit passed" and "Audit rejected". When the audit is passed: the registered email address will receive six emails notifying you of successful registration in six countries; when the audit is rejected, the registered email address will receive six rejection notification emails. The audit result notifications are shown in the following figure:

(3) Waiting for review: While waiting for the platform to review the qualifications, merchants can complete the following tasks in advance in the background to facilitate subsequent operation and management of the store:

  • Create and save the product in advance (but it cannot be published. You need to wait for the store to review it before you can click Edit and Publish)

  • Log in to Lazada University, learn relevant courses on Lazada store operations, familiarize yourself with the platform operation rules, and lay a solid foundation for subsequent store operations. Lazada University website: https://education.lazada.com/


Post-operation

Once the store is approved, merchants can upload and publish products and start operating the store:
(1) Publish products: Log in to GSP → Manage global products → Select products → Click “Edit” → Click “Publish” → Publish successfully (*Required)

Prohibited products and brands

Malaysia Station

Prohibited products: food, edible health products, tobacco and electronic cigarettes, weapons and knives, fireworks and their devices, diamonds from the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, pirated and counterfeit products.

The banned brands include: Meizu, Xiaomi, ose and Beats by Dre.

Indonesia Station

Prohibited products: food and beverages, any medicines, narcotics and health products, traditional Chinese medicines, explosive and dangerous goods, flammable materials and fireworks, tobacco-related products such as cigarettes and electronic cigarettes; alcohol and other alcoholic beverages, firearms and weapons, sex products and pornographic products; counterfeit, pirated or imitation products, counterfeit banknotes, bills or coins.

There are relatively many brands that are banned from sale, distributed in four categories: electronic products, home appliances, home life and travel luggage.

Singapore

Prohibited products: chewing gum, tobacco, e-cigarettes or hookahs, weapons, expired or harmful medicines, banned or unlabeled health products, and indecent adult toys.

Banned brands: Jays' H series, Oppo, Bose.

Thailand Station

Prohibited products include: tobacco, e-cigarettes or hookahs, weapons, alcohol products, sex toys, counterfeit or restricted drugs, machines containing chlorofluorocarbons, bubble blowing, bubble gum, food containers that may be contaminated with lead, diamonds from Sierra Leone, and plants.

The banned brands include OnePlus One mobile phones.

Philippines Station

The banned products include: adulterated and substandard food, raw shrimps and prawns, tobacco, weapons (including toy pistols and imitation guns), drugs and equipment used for abortion, and products containing rare metals (such as gold and silver).

The banned brands include: Huawei's Honor 6, ZTE, Xiaomi, and Meizu.

Again, in addition to the banned products mentioned above, there are some brands that have obtained exclusive authorization to sell on Lazada platforms in various countries, and sellers are not allowed to sell products of these brands.

Q: Do I need to apply for a corporate Alipay and corporate Payoneer account before registering a Lazada account?

A: Yes, the Lazada registration process requires corporate Alipay verification and corporate Payoneer account.


Q: What should I do if I don’t have corporate Alipay when registering a Lazada account?

A: Please apply for corporate Alipay from the Alipay team. The review time is three working days.


Q: How to confirm that I have successfully registered as a seller on the LAZADA website?

A: Once you register online to become a LAZADA seller, please check your registered mailbox (including spam) in time. You will receive our email immediately. Please fill in the online application form and upload your business license or business registration certificate in time. Once you complete this step, you will receive another email asking you to accept the electronic contract.

If the seller's application form information and business registration certificate are correct and valid, Lazada will open the seller center in a short time and notify you by email.
