Amazon requires FBA sellers to provide carrier tracking information

Amazon requires FBA sellers to provide carrier tracking information

To help sellers get products into warehouses and on the market faster, Amazon today updated its policies around carrier and tracking information.

The announcement shows that starting from October 1, 2021, FBA sellers will need to provide tracking information to Amazon through the Seller Central shipping creation workflow, the tracking shipment label on the shipping summary page, and the Amazon Marketplace Web Service to enter the carrier name during shipping .

However, Amazon does not force sellers to enter the carrier name and tracking information. If available, try to fill it out. For specific instructions on uploading tracking information and tracking delivery status, sellers can learn about it in the delivery queue and delivery summary list in the tracking delivery option.

It is worth noting that this policy applies to sellers outside the Amazon Partnered Carrier Program. For sellers participating in the Partnered Carrier Program or Amazon Global Logistics, Amazon will automatically generate tracking information.

Amazon said that providing carrier tracking information can help Amazon receive merchants' inventory more efficiently and avoid delays in the receiving process.

If a store is out of stock, Amazon can use the in-stock Head Start pre-sale function to generate an order while the goods are in transit, thus ensuring that the store and listing are in normal business and avoiding the embarrassing situation of being out of stock for a long time.

However, the prerequisite is that when sellers enter the carrier name and tracking information, they must ensure that the tracking ID of the package shipment corresponds to the correct FBA box number label on each box. Only in this way can Amazon determine the package receipt time more accurately and quickly.

In addition, Amazon reminded in the announcement that during the package transportation process, try to provide a tracking ID for each box, and for non-truck loading and full truck shipments, each needs to provide a freight progress number (PRO).

In fact, every time Amazon updates its policy, it will receive a large number of comments. This time is no exception. There are voices of agreement as well as complaints. I hope that sellers can make reasonable judgments based on their own circumstances.
