In a short period of time, ALDI has become one of the top ten retailers in Australia. We have also influenced grocery prices, increased the awareness and quality of private label goods through ALDI's own exclusive brand concept, and launched many market-leading programs that have never been seen in Australia. Prioritize Australian manufacturing Australian made products are always ALDI's first choice when sourcing goods for its stores ALDI is proud to support Australian suppliers and manufacturers and only sources from overseas when the product, quality, efficiency or innovation it seeks cannot be found in Australia. The 'Australian Made' logo can be found in all ALDI stores. ALDI also supports the 'Buy the West', 'Best of the East' logos in stores in Western Australia and the 'South Australian State Brand' in stores in South Australia. 3. Supporting Australian business Since its founding in 2001, ALDI has built long-term relationships with nearly 1,000 farmers, producers and manufacturers in every state and territory, supporting them with reduced competition, streamlined processes and high-volume, timely and consistent orders. 4. Create change in the community As ALDI expands across Australia, we have many charitable partnerships and programs designed to create sustainable positive change in the areas where we operate. Development History The first cornerstone was laid in 1913 when a small food store opened in Essen, Germany. Soon, this small "service store" became a popular shopping destination. In the 40s, an expansion plan was created and more ALDI stores were opened. In 1954, a celebration was held to celebrate the opening of the 50th store in Germany. By 1960, ALDI had grown into a network of more than 300 stores between the Ruhr Valley and Aachen. The prosperous family business was then split into two independent companies: ALDI Süd serving the south and ALDI Nord serving the north. "Self-service" was still a relatively new retail structure in the 60s, and ALDI became the first company in Germany to adopt this new retail concept. Although customers still had access to the same high-quality products as before, they could now buy them at more competitive prices. In 1983, ALDI Süd opened refrigerated distribution stations and sold fresh products such as cheese, yogurt and sausages. Frozen products came in 1998, followed by fresh meat. To this day, ALDI continues to keep up with the evolving tastes of modern consumers. Today, ALDI's rapidly growing network includes more than 10,000 stores, serving millions of people across three continents. Corporate Vision 2030 ALDI will make sustainability affordable for customers ALDI SOUTH Group prides itself on providing customers with quality products at reasonable prices. As a responsible business, ALDI continues to develop its commitment to its customers, employees, business partners, communities and the environment. ALDI's global corporate responsibility strategy includes four international focus areas - human rights, resource efficiency, zero carbon and employer of choice - supplemented by other national focus areas that focus on providing healthy products to all customers and supporting local communities through philanthropic partnerships. Together, these activities help achieve ALDI's vision of making sustainability affordable for every customer. |
