If we talk about the most popular event for Amazon sellers, it must be Amazon Prime Day. This year, Amazon has not yet announced the specific date of Prime Day , only revealing that it will be in July .

 

But based on Amazon's FBA warehousing deadlines, Fahim Naim, head of Amazon at e-commerce consulting firm Advantage Unified Commerce, predicts Prime Day will begin on July 11 or 18 .

 

As we all know, the global economic situation this year is not optimistic. Consumers are affected by high inflation, which has reduced their desire to consume. It is conceivable that sellers' order performance has also been greatly affected. Prime Day is a major promotion node for Amazon, and sellers have high hopes. Although Amazon's revenue in the first quarter of this year was negative , it is expected that Prime Day will bring Amazon the first wave of dividends this year , and sellers may be able to follow suit and gradually turn losses into profits .

 

As Amazon's largest favorable market, how will the United States perform on Amazon Prime Day this year?

 

While growth in U.S. Amazon Prime subscribers may slow as competition intensifies and consumer spending tightens , it is expected to reach 163.5 million this year, according to eMarketer .

 

 

The report also pointed out that this year's Amazon Prime Day, total sales in the United States are expected to grow by 16.8% to $ 7.76 billion, accounting for more than 60% of global Prime Day sales , while non-US sales will increase by 17.3 % to $4.76 billion . In 2022, global Prime Day sales will reach $12.52 billion, a year-on-year increase of 17.0%.

 

Although inflation affects consumers' desire to consume and causes changes in the content of their consumption, since Prime Day is held during the U.S. Independence Day, back-to-school season and midsummer, the change of seasons and the start of holidays will cause consumers to adapt to the consumption needs of the nodes. It is expected that related products will be hot-selling at that time. Sellers on the U.S. site should pay attention to keep up with market changes and adjust their product selection preparations.

 

 

According to the eMarketer report, in addition to audio-visual entertainment, the main physical product categories that attracted consumers' attention on Amazon Prime Day include electronics, toys, beauty and personal care, and fashion.

 

Based on the sales performance of Prime Day in previous years, electronic products ( including home appliances ) will continue to be the most outstanding category on Prime Day . As Amazon's largest category, it is expected to account for 24.4% of Amazon's e-commerce sales in 2022 , while growing by 12.2% . The sales share of smart home products in this category will exceed that of electronic products such as mobile devices .

 

In addition, sellers of fashion products should not miss this sales opportunity. Back-to-school season, back-to-work season, travel season, wedding season and other peak seasons are all concentrated in the summer. The demand for clothing categories such as back-to-school clothing ( more casual ), workplace clothing, wedding dresses, and specific accessories will usher in high growth in the United States .

 

In early June, Amazon’s rival Walmart held its annual promotion event , Walmart Plus Weekend . Data showed that in this Walmart version of Prime Day , 39 % of customers were “very satisfied” with the official discounts and product variety during the event. However , last year, Amazon Prime   Day's satisfaction rate is only 27% .

 

I thought the e-commerce sector would continue to be positive this year, but things are unpredictable. With a negative market in front and strong competitors chasing behind, can Amazon and its sellers rely on Prime?   It remains to be seen whether Day can make a comeback.
