AliExpress continues to lead the Korean market, adding 60,000 square meters of Korean warehouses

Chinese e-commerce is developing rapidly in the Korean market. Reporters learned that AliExpress's Korean warehouse in Weihai, Shandong will be expanded by another 60,000 square meters to handle the growing order volume. This is also AliExpress's largest warehouse group in North China.

This expansion is a further upgrade of AliExpress's Korean warehouse. It is reported that in the future, the warehouse will realize an integrated park design, bringing together the storage, delivery, consolidation, and distribution functions that were originally scattered in different areas into the same park, and improving the delivery time of packages through centralized operations.

Weihai Port, located at the eastern end of Shandong Peninsula, is the closest port to South Korea in China . AliExpress is also one of the earliest cross-border platforms to be deployed in Weihai . Goods shipped from AliExpress warehouse to South Korea can be delivered within 3-5 days, helping Chinese cross-border merchants to provide a similar logistics experience as local e-commerce in the Korean market, greatly enhancing the competitiveness of merchants.

South Korea is the world's fifth largest e-commerce market, with a size comparable to the entire Southeast Asian market. In the past two years, the status of Chinese cross-border e-commerce platforms in the Korean market has continued to rise. According to the latest data released by WiseappRetail , a Korean market research agency, the total amount of payments made by Korean consumers on Chinese cross-border e-commerce platforms in 2024 increased significantly year-on-year to 4.2 trillion won , three times that of 2022. Among them , AliExpress alone accounted for 85% of the transaction share .

AliExpress has long been the most important platform for Chinese cross-border merchants to enter the Korean market. In December 2023 , AliExpress set a record by becoming the second largest comprehensive e-commerce company in Korea in terms of monthly active users , and its user growth and cross-user usage time once exceeded that of Coupang, a Korean e-commerce giant. In 2024 , AliExpress also signed Tang Wei and Ma Dongxi as dual spokespersons to accelerate its expansion into the Korean market.

Before last year's Double 11, AliExpress clarified the cross-border "POP + full trusteeship" dual-track driving category solution , and strengthened local operations in different national markets . According to the needs of consumers in different countries, AliExpress set up country-specific pallets and opened three major distribution warehouses in Europe, North America, Japan and South Korea. During the subsequent Double 11 and Spring Festival promotions, AliExpress traffic ushered in an explosion, and a large number of merchants' daily sales exceeded thousands or even tens of thousands of orders.
