Amazon launches another round of reminders: This matter must be dealt with quickly!

At the end of May, a large number of European sellers received insurance policy change notifications from Amazon. Yesterday (July 25), many European sellers said they received reminder emails from Amazon.

According to the email, Section 8 of the Amazon Services Business Solutions Agreement requires that if a seller's total transaction revenue exceeds the applicable insurance purchase threshold in any month, the seller must purchase and maintain commercial insurance within the next 30 days (unless otherwise required) and add Amazon as an additional insured.

Among them, the threshold for Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium and the Netherlands is 5,000 euros; for the UK it is 4,000 pounds; for Sweden it is 50,000 Swedish kronor; for Poland it is 22,500 Polish zlotys; and for Canada it is 10,000 US dollars.

Many sellers operate multiple sites at the same time, so they are quite confused: I have already purchased insurance for the US site, do I need to buy it for other sites? Can I share the insurance for the UK and Europe?

Some sellers are also wondering, do they have to purchase and maintain commercial liability insurance within 30 days after receiving the email? There is no purchase path or upload information entrance in the backend of the European site, so how can they purchase and upload the insurance policy?

One seller said that he consulted customer service as soon as he received the email yesterday. Customer service said that unlike the US site, Europe does not require insurance information to be uploaded, but it is necessary to purchase insurance when the threshold is reached ; there is no specific purchase deadline for insurance, but sellers need to provide a valid insurance policy when needed later. In addition, customer service also said that the current policy did not find the consequences of not purchasing insurance.

Some sellers also said that after consulting Amazon customer service, they received a reply saying that once they received such an email, it meant that they needed to complete the purchase of insurance within the specified time .

As for whether it is necessary to purchase insurance for each site, Amazon stated in the email that if the seller has purchased valid commercial liability insurance in the US site and is also doing business in Europe or the UK, then they can contact the insurance provider to confirm whether the insurance covers Europe and the UK.

Some senior sellers also said that a commercial policy may cover multiple sites in Europe and North America, and many US insurance companies can add European and British sites to the policy coverage.

In the final analysis, sellers still need to communicate with their insurance companies for specific situations, after all, the regulations of each company are different . In addition, the editor would like to remind everyone to pay attention to the sales amount insured by the policy, and determine whether to increase the insurance amount according to their specific situation when adding sites.

Judging from the current situation, it has become an established fact that sellers on the European site need to purchase commercial liability insurance, and there is a certain probability that it will continue to be extended to other sites. Some sellers said that this actually increases the cost of operation in disguise .

However, there are also data showing that many foreign e-commerce platforms, such as Wayfair, Overstock, Home Depot, etc., require sellers to provide relevant insurance policy information when they register. Obviously, purchasing commercial liability insurance has become a general trend, so the best way for sellers who have met the conditions is to act as soon as possible and ensure that they operate in compliance with regulations.
