Crazy! Woman received a "house full of Temu" parcels without placing an order
Recently, a lady named Wood who lives in the suburbs of Chicago, USA, was quite upset because she received hundreds of packages from Temu without placing any orders .
According to Isabelle Wood, who recently moved into her current apartment, she felt "surprised" when she received the express deliveries in the first week or two, and it felt like Christmas every day. But as time went by, the number of packages increased, and in this month, she received an average of one or two packages every day.
At present, these parcels have become a small mountain, filling up Isabel's home. The parcels contain various goods such as leather jackets, trophies, chess and checkers, steering wheel locks, crayfish catchers, etc. Although Isabel wants to return these things, there is no return address on them.
(Part of the packages Isabel received) At first, Isabel thought someone would come to claim the items, but no one came, so she had to ask her father, Tim Wood, to help store the items. Tim said that he first went to his daughter's place to look at the items, and then he had to go home to change a car because the original car could not fit the items.
Isabel said she contacted Temu, but the situation did not improve. The packages continued to arrive, making the space in her home smaller and smaller.
In fact, Isabel's situation is not an isolated case. Previously, a woman in Minnesota received a package from Amazon filled with baby balloons and baby toys; a couple in Massachusetts also received a package from Amazon filled with rechargeable hand warmers, humidifiers, flashlights and Bluetooth speakers. They did not order these things from Amazon.
Similar cases have been reported across the country over the past decade, with reports in California, Colorado and Texas.
According to industry insiders, these "uninvited" e-commerce platform orders may represent a fake order scam - in order to make their listings have more "good reviews", some third-party sellers on e-commerce platforms will send the goods to the addresses they found on the Internet, and then pretend to be buyers to leave good reviews for the products, thereby achieving the purpose of fake orders.
As early as 2021, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission reminded Americans to beware of similar fake order packages, and reminded consumers to pay attention to whether there are fake reviews on the website in their own name, and if found, report the situation immediately.
Regarding Isabel's situation, Temu explained that if a customer receives an unordered package, it may be that the shipper found the wrong address, or the user did not update his or her address after moving; if there is a similar situation, the platform should be contacted so that the platform staff can conduct an investigation in a timely manner. Temu also mentioned in the statement that Temu strictly prohibits any form of fake orders and will take action against violators. Temu USA pack |
