Prime Day is approaching, and another wave of strict inspections on the Amazon platform has come. Due to the use of specific sensitive words, a large number of sellers have received performance notifications and are in a panic. In the face of mass incidents, the platform seems to always follow the principle of rather killing the wrong person than letting the wrong person go. Waves of strict inspections and sweeps continue to occur, and many peers complain: "Sooner or later, you will go crazy if you work for Amazon!"
Amazon strictly regulates certain words
This week, many sellers suddenly received performance warnings from Amazon, being told that their product descriptions violated the detail rules. After consulting customer service, they learned that they had used sensitive words in their five-point descriptions and titles.
According to sellers in the industry, this time Amazon has conducted stricter reviews on specific words in product titles and descriptions. Among them, words such as Free, Gift, Warranty, etc. are considered non-compliant words. If they appear in the five-point description or title of the product, they may receive a performance notification for violating the details page rules . In serious cases, the link will be deleted.
After a few days of fermentation, it is indeed as everyone said that almost all the performance notifications received this time involved the use of words that the platform considers sensitive in the title and description.
One seller said that he had received a reminder that the listing search results were at risk of being banned because the title contained banned words such as Gift for, which did not comply with Amazon policy. The solution was to remove these words from the title.
The sensitive word "Gift" has caused many gift sellers to panic. Some people even exclaimed: "All those who sell gifts are ruined. What should we do ? " Some colleagues also said that the product has gift attributes and there is no way to skip this word. They don't know whether to modify it.
The word "Warranty" is also considered risky. According to Amazon's official explanation, only sellers who have been approved by Amazon in advance can list and sell services, warranties and other similar products on the Amazon store. Amazon currently does not accept applications for selling services or warranties.
If you are not a pre-approved seller, you are prohibited from listing services, warranties, and other similar products, such as: extended warranties, money back guarantees, replacement plans, service contracts, buyback guarantee programs, investment services.
If sellers want to list warranty and other similar products on Amazon, they can contact [email protected]. If you meet the requirements, the warranty service team will review your account and contact you.
In fact, the use of some words may be unclear or cause misunderstandings to consumers, and Amazon does not allow the use of such expressions. For example, the platform has previously issued warnings about the words mentioned above.
According to industry insiders, as early as 2020, the manager at the time reminded in the group that words such as Gift, Warranty, and High Quality should not be mentioned in the title and bullet points, and if used, they should be deleted immediately. From 2020 to now, in the past four years, no seller has seen performance loss due to the use of these words, so everyone assumes that there is no problem with these words, but Amazon's review still came, and now there are a large number of links that have been affected.
Some sellers may not be able to avoid words such as Gift and Warranty. Now that they are banned, many people are caught off guard and don’t know what to do.
As for the current situation, not all links using these sensitive words will receive performance notifications from Amazon. For those that have already received performance notifications, they need to modify the relevant descriptions and titles. After the modifications, the links can basically return to normal in a short time. Sellers who have not received performance notifications do not need to rush to modify them and can wait for a while.
Sensitive words expanded
There are more sensitive words involved in the Amazon platform's current inventory than just these few. Judging from the feedback over the past two days, there are more words that sellers did not expect to be included.
First, words such as Contact, Guarrantee, free-standing, lifetime, etc. are also sensitive words. If used in titles or descriptions, related listings are at risk of being removed from the shelves in batches .
A seller said that his A+ will report an error if there is the word Contact. Currently, there is also this word in Five Points, but it has not been scanned . Since there is an error, it proves that this word is risky.
Second, a seller who received a performance notification opened a case for consultation and was told that time-sensitive information such as Birthday, Anniversary , Father's Day , Mother's Day , Valentine's Day , Thanksgiving , Christmas and New Year cannot be disclosed , and the promise of 30-day free returns and 1-year warranty is also not allowed.
Third, Amazon's help page also mentions that words including Affordable, Best-selling, Discount Money-back, Non-returnable, Refund, Promotional language such as 'SALE' or 'Free shipping', and 100% quality guaranteed are also banned words.
Fourth, if you add emoticons in the five-point description, you may also receive a performance notification. Some sellers have already been caught and received a performance notification in the past two days.
The above are the words that may bring risks to the listing at present. Sellers are reminded to pay more attention. As a colleague said, some words do not bring any benefits. Deleting them early can prevent problems before they happen and avoid being messed up by Amazon during the peak season.
It is worth noting that this sensitive word investigation seems to be focused only on the US site, and the European or Japanese sites have not been affected yet. However, according to Amazon's usual practice, other sites will follow suit after the US site begins, so everyone should pay attention.
Sellers can take precautions
Amazon does not seem to have made a clear response to this large-scale sensitive word issue.
Some sellers consulted Amazon customer service about this matter, and each customer service responded differently. Some Amazon customer service said that there is no official notice on the ban of specific words, and the compliance of product descriptions ultimately depends on the automatic review results of the Amazon system. Other customer service staff clearly pointed out that certain words such as "Gift for" violated the platform policy and asked sellers to remove them immediately.
According to current feedback, although Amazon has not officially notified, some words do violate the policy and cannot be used. It is not a big problem for sellers to delete sensitive words after receiving performance, and the link can be restored quickly, so many peers are waiting and watching, and some choose to delete because they are afraid of more serious consequences after being caught.
In order to avoid possible losses in the future, sellers should pay close attention to Amazon's official notifications and policy updates on sensitive words, and promptly check whether the words in product titles and descriptions are compliant. For words that may violate the rules, sellers are advised to use synonyms or similar words to rephrase them.
If sellers are afraid of being caught, or have questions about the compliance of specific words, they can directly contact Amazon customer service for official guidance. During the communication process, sellers can explain their situation in detail and seek clear answers.
Amazon always conducts strict inspections on possible violations on the platform before Prime Day and peak seasons. These violations are usually caused by robots. For sellers who operate in compliance, even if they are caught by robots, it is easy to recover or file an appeal later. However, some non-compliant sellers may suffer losses. Therefore, sellers should always abide by the rules and policy requirements of the Amazon platform during operations. Compliance means long-term success. Amazon Strict inspection Sensitive words |
