Traffic and sales both declined! A large number of brand sellers’ listings had problems

Recently, some sellers reported that the brand words in the titles of many listings under their brands were suddenly deleted, resulting in a sharp drop in sales.

The seller's listing title was modified and the brand word was removed by Amazon?

As we all know, for Amazon sellers, in addition to the product cover image, the product title can be regarded as the first thing that consumers see. Its quality basically directly determines the click-through rate and traffic of a product.

However, recently many sellers have discovered that the titles of their links have been inexplicably modified by Amazon, resulting in a double decline in traffic and order volume .

According to the seller, his trademark and brand have been registered and filed, but his brand name was suddenly removed from the listing title, and his sales experienced a "huge" decline for a period of time afterwards.

For brand sellers, especially those with a certain degree of popularity, brand words can bring considerable traffic. Therefore, many big brands will put the brand name in the title of the listing, so that consumers can discover their own brand and products at a glance.

It seems that the removal of brand words is indeed a huge blow to sellers. For some sellers, a listing may even fail directly due to the removal of brand words.

The seller speculated that this might be a new feature that Amazon is testing recently, but his listing was obviously affected by mistake. Currently, the seller has opened a case and hopes that Amazon officials can resolve this issue as soon as possible.

After learning about this situation, other sellers suggested that they try manually modifying the listing title in the background, and said that they had encountered similar situations before and that they had recovered after manual modification.

However, the seller responded that he had tried to make changes in the background many times, but there was still no change on the front end. Now he can only wait for Amazon to provide a solution.

Coincidentally, a month ago a seller posted on the forum saying that his brand word was inexplicably removed from the listing title.

“I have heard of similar situations before, but there is no clear solution. Our brands are all registered in advance and have registered trademarks, but the brand names in all our listing titles have been removed, making them look like ordinary unbranded products,” the seller wrote in the post.

“If you search only for brand terms, you can still find relevant listings, but you won’t see the corresponding brand terms in the titles. If you search only for product keywords without brand terms, you won’t even find listings. However, many of my competitors don’t seem to have this problem.”

However, according to the latest reply under this post, all the listing titles of the poster seem to have returned to normal. Two days ago, he wrote in a reply to other sellers under the post, "Now when searching for brands, I found that brand words appear in the titles again. This should be a test that Amazon is doing recently, because I recently found that other brands and listings have also had such problems. I guess Amazon does this to filter out meaningless brand words like jhhnkk and kijafih, making the entire platform look cleaner and fresher."

If this is true as the seller speculated, then Amazon’s target this time is likely to be a large number of Chinese sellers.

A large number of Chinese Amazon sellers brand names are garbled ?

On the Amazon platform, Chinese third-party sellers are a force that cannot be ignored, but this group is also one of the targets that Amazon "takes care of" the most.

Foreign media have previously reported that on the Amazon platform, many third-party sellers have very strange brand names, including many completely meaningless brand names such as NVEESHOX, Fosman, or QINLIANF.

Many listings have even accumulated a large number of reviews, and some products have even been ranked among the top sellers in their categories. This contrast made the foreigners ponder, how could such a casual brand name be so successful in the overseas market ?

Seeing these "weird" brands, some foreigners speculated whether the seller had made a typo or even suspected that there was something wrong with the browser. However, the actual situation is that these brands are indeed called these names, not typos.

Previously, a New York Times reporter reported his experience of buying products from a brand called "FRETREE" on Amazon . Because the brand name was too "niche", he was worried at first whether there would be any problems, but the result was surprisingly smooth. Not only did he receive the package quickly, but the product quality was also impeccable.

Therefore, the reporter concluded that it was probably because a large number of Chinese sellers flocked to Amazon in the past few years, and these sellers may not know anything about English at all. They just wanted to sell the goods on Amazon, so they did not think too much when registering the brand name, as long as it was not the same as other brands. As a result, there are many "garbled" brands now.

Although these brands are selling goods legitimately and have not had problems with selling counterfeit goods or goods that do not match the descriptions, as the industry continues to develop towards specialization and formalization, the long-term development of these brands may not be guaranteed.

Amazon’s latest action is the best evidence. According to some brand sellers, Amazon’s move is to search for brands with suspicious brand words, and those Chinese sellers with "garbled" brands will undoubtedly become Amazon’s number one target.

Although it is still unclear what Amazon’s real purpose is, sellers are advised to be cautious and subtle. It is recommended that brand sellers search for their own brand words on the front end to see what the search results are. If there are any abnormalities, they can contact Amazon as soon as possible to seek solutions.
