Just now, multiple platforms joined forces to crack down on fake reviews!

For major e-commerce platforms, the problem of rampant false reviews has always been a headache for the platforms, and Amazon, as the leader in the e-commerce industry, is no exception.

From the perspective of platform sellers, consumer reviews are crucial to the survival of their stores, which explains why some sellers are willing to take risks and purchase a large number of fake reviews from illegal channels.

In response to this problem, Amazon announced on Tuesday that it has formed a new alliance to combat fake reviews. The idea of establishing the alliance was conceived at a "fake reviews meeting" held in October.

Amazon, Booking.com, Expedia Group, Glassdoor, TripAdvisor and TrustPilot have joined forces to form the Trusted Reviews Coalition, a cross-industry collaboration dedicated to protecting consumers around the world from fraudulent reviews, according to a statement.

"Members will work together to manage online review hosting and share methods for detecting fake reviews, aiming to eliminate the problem of fake reviews at the source," a spokesperson for the alliance said.

The coalition also pledged to collaborate on public education and ongoing information sharing among members in an effort to reduce fraud at the audit level.

In addition, members expressed their willingness to share with each other cases related to the specific operations of fraudulent actors, "such as some intermediaries selling fake reviews to businesses that want to improperly increase product ratings," to ensure that the public is not misled by fraudulent content.

Becky Foley, TripAdvisor's vice president of trust and safety, said combating middlemen who try to sell fake reviews to sellers will be a key area of focus.

Dharmesh Mehta, vice president of Amazon's global selling partner services , called fake review brokers a global problem that affects multiple industries. He said members of the new alliance will share information about fraudsters' strategies and how they operate so they can be targeted.

It is understood that the alliance members will next hold the second conference on the issue of fake reviews organized by Amazon in Brussels on December 5 and 6, when they will discuss specific implementation details.

It can be seen that Amazon has indeed made great efforts to combat fake reviews in recent times. I believe that with the implementation of a set of policy combinations, the business environment for sellers will improve in the future.
