A large number of Amazon buyers have encountered sellers bribing them for "requesting good reviews"!

Product reviews have always been particularly important to sellers. According to foreign media reports, many Amazon buyers have been "bribed" for good reviews.

Research by Which?, a British consumer research agency , said that bad sellers on Amazon are using a variety of methods to "tempt" buyers to leave positive reviews - such as gift cards, free goods and refunds, in order to deceive the platform and other users.

A survey of 1,500 British consumers conducted by Which? this year found that 10% of respondents who had shopped on Amazon in the past 12 months had received a card in the packaging of a product, asking them to leave a positive review.

Another 8% said they had encountered sellers asking them to leave 5-star reviews via email or other channels. In addition, 4% of the respondents clearly stated that they would change a negative review to a positive one because of the "benefits" given by the seller.

Another respondent said that he had received a £50 Amazon voucher and received a full refund for leaving a positive review; another respondent said that there was an envelope with a £10 gift card in the goods he ordered from Amazon in order to get him to leave a five-star review.

Experts stressed that due to the frequent occurrence of such cases, many products of average quality have shockingly high ratings. In addition, some respondents said that they were "harassed" by sellers for weeks because they left bad reviews.

Rocio Concha, policy and advocacy director at Which?, said that sellers on Amazon are using various "incentives" to "bomb" customers in order to deceive the platform, and there is evidence that they are successful; Amazon and other review sites need to increase management efforts to crack down on fake reviews on their platforms.

An Amazon spokesperson said that the company has clear regulations prohibiting the abuse of reviews and does not allow sellers to contact customers in order to solicit positive reviews. The platform will suspend sales of sellers who violate the policy and take legal action against them. The platform has already deleted some of the "positive reviews" reflected by Which?
