Recently, Amazon sent an email to influential influencers on the platform through X (Twitter), inviting them to participate in "a new limited-time reward" and stating that this is an opportunity to "increase exposure on Amazon and earn commissions."
The goal is to keep Inspire attractive to users by continuously launching new and interesting videos .
Amazon launched the Inspire Feed in December last year, which allows consumers to explore new purchases from videos created by influencers, brands and other customers. All of these are customized to their interests, and then they can buy these products on Amazon, Amazon Shopping Director Oliver Messenger said at the time.
The email also stated that only videos that meet the criteria will be accepted. Specifically, a video must contain two or more Amazon products, product comparison content, ranking lists, or gift inspiration content.
The company offers $25 per video , with a maximum payout of $12,500, and each talent can submit up to 500 videos to reach that number.
However, according to data from industry consulting firm Brands Meets Creator, the average price for the type of video Amazon requires is $212 per video, with a median price of $150 per video. Of course, different influencers have different standards for creation and charging, and some influencers may charge higher fees for a single video ($2,500). Therefore, the price of $25 per video was laughed at by influencers. Expert A said in X's (formerly Twitter) post: "$25 per job, haha, Amazon can find someone else to play this game."
Expert B thinks: "500 videos!! This is a full-time job, haha"
Talent C said: "No, it's a whopping $25 per video."
The email also shows that Amazon plans to accept 35,000 videos and requires all videos to be submitted before September 22.
Another beauty influencer said that 500 videos is impossible because not everyone has 500 Amazon products at home. She added that because she is in the beauty/skin care niche, she has to be careful, do research, and produce, write, model, act, do her own hair and makeup, which all require a lot of time, while she is also a mother of two.
Considering Amazon's annual revenue, both the price and the number of videos are prohibitive for many influencers. According to Statista, the company's revenue last year was as high as $514 billion, and its online retail sales revenue was about $220 billion.
However, it is not surprising that Amazon launched this event at this time. TikTok is also said to be testing a new in-app shopping area called "Trendy Beat", which will adopt an e-commerce model similar to Amazon. In this context, Amazon also hopes to establish and promote Inspire, which is similar to TikTok. Amazon Promotion Internet Celebrities |
