In recent years, eBay seems to have been going downhill, and sellers are paying less and less attention to the platform. In order to reverse the downward trend, eBay began to try to use some "benefits" to retain disappointed sellers.
Recently, many sellers have reported that they suddenly received package reminders from Fed Ex, but they had never ordered anything like this.
On eBay's seller forum, a seller posted: "Why did I receive a package from eBay? I just received an email from FedEx saying that I would receive a package from eBay. This is indeed a bit strange. Will everyone receive this package?"
One seller responded: "There have been a lot of scams under the guise of FedEx recently. The emails say there is a package for you, but in fact they are trying to trick you into clicking on a link and getting your personal information. There have been a lot of scams of this kind recently, and I suspect this is one of them." Some people speculated whether it was a return from the buyer, but because many sellers said they had received such emails, everyone felt that it was unlikely to be such a coincidence.
Amid all the suspicion, a seller finally received the package. It turned out to be a false alarm. The package was a gift from eBay to the sellers, and it was filled with various packaging materials.
One seller wrote on the forum: "I received a package today. It seems to be a promotion by eBay to attract you to participate in the platform's new international shipping program. The package contains all the things needed for shipment. The quality looks good! "
Another seller responded: "It's a great product! But it would be better if eBay could give us more information in advance."
Judging from the posts posted by sellers on the forum, it is not yet clear how eBay chooses which sellers to send these packages to, but there are clues that it may be because these sellers are more active in forums and social media. Currently, eBay is trying to transition sellers from its Global Shipping Program to the new International Shipping Program. In this package, there is also a small card that explains how to register for the new International Shipping Program and lists several major benefits of joining the program:
Expand consumer groups: Sellers' products will be displayed to more than one million consumers in more than 200 countries around the world, and store sales will increase exponentially.
It’s simple: Sellers only need to send their products to eBay’s shipping center, and the staff will take care of all the details of international shipping, including customs paperwork.
No need to worry about returns: eBay will handle all matters related to returns and will cover refunds at no cost to the seller.
Although the benefits offered by eBay are very tempting, some sellers calmly pointed out: "Compared with the various problems existing on the platform, this little profit is nothing. If the platform really wants to retain sellers, it needs to show more sincerity."
In the past five years, only 28% of new sellers joined eBay, which is much lower than its competitor Amazon's 44%. If eBay wants to reverse the decline, it still has a lot to do. eBay USA Seller |
