Staying at home saved $100 billion! This country's retaliatory consumption has begun, and orders for these products have soared...

Canadians have saved $100 billion by staying at home during the pandemic , and are ready to spend retaliatory amounts. These previously hot-selling categories or products may see a surge in sales...

Bicycle delivery is scheduled until 2022, and Canadian sports products are selling well

For Canadians who have been staying at home for so long, the emergence of fitness equipment can be said to have helped kill a lot of boring time.

Foreign media said that Canadian retailers selling fitness equipment said that this category has seen triple-digit growth since March.

The most popular search terms on the Kijiji online sales site were dumbbells and exercise bikes, with searches for elliptical machines increasing by 39% and treadmills by 15%.

The head of eBay Canada also said that the number of orders for fitness equipment has skyrocketed, with sales of fitness stair machines increasing by 230% and sales of treadmills increasing by 280%.

In addition to fitness equipment, outdoor sports related products are also very hot-selling . The sales manager of Ridley's Cycle in Canada said that this winter is the busiest winter he has ever seen.

As many people start outdoor activities this year, bicycle shops in Calgary, Canada have seen a surge in sales and low inventory, with delivery dates for some products estimated to be pushed back to 2022. Some buyers are "annoyed" because they can't find suitable bicycle parts.

A retail store selling sports equipment is also troubled by a shortage of stock. The head of Overlander Sports said that ordinary adult cross-country skis are almost sold out, and stores across Canada are crying out for help in winter sports equipment , such as boots, poles and skis.

" They're waiting anywhere from a month to six weeks to get some of the equipment back , " said Dobson, general manager of Toronto Ski Resort .

Not only is there a huge demand for outdoor sports in online retail, but there is also a huge demand for online e-commerce. Even Walmart Canada has stated that they are preparing for a potential surge in demand for certain product categories, including the " outdoor living and fitness " category.

While these products are selling like hot cakes, Canadians are saving a lot of money to prepare for revenge consumption ...

Canadians saved $100 billion at home and are ready for revenge spending

Economists at Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) say Canadian households' cash reserves have reached an all-time high, about $100 billion more than before the pandemic, because they have nowhere to spend their money during the pandemic .

In the Maru/Blue poll conducted for Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce , about 40 per cent of people with household incomes of $100,000 or more said they were saving more now than before the pandemic.

This coincides with earlier research by Tal and Judge, which showed that although Canada lost one-fifth of low-end jobs in 2020, the number of high-paying jobs increased by around 10% .

"Higher earners, who are sitting on the bulk of their excess savings , also tend to spend more of their money in sectors most directly affected by the virus , " Tal and Judge wrote.

Income earners in the top two quintiles accounted for 57% of spending on entertainment, culture, leisure and accommodation in 2019 , suggesting a sharp rebound in demand once these services reopen.

"The Canadian government is counting on you to spend the money when it is safe to do so, sparking a strong recovery," economists Benjamin Tal and Catherine Judge wrote in a report.

The Canadian people did not disappoint.

On March 8, the first day of Toronto's reopening, long queues formed in many shopping malls. A Toronto resident said that he wanted to go shopping in a mall, but it took him 40 minutes to wait.

In this context, the Canadian government recently announced that three types of COVID-19 subsidies for businesses will be extended to at least June.

With food in hand , people are not worried. It is conceivable that as Canada gradually lifts the blockade, the consumption power of its people will be amazing.

FBA inventory restrictions tightened again, overseas warehouses are used

When you see a business opportunity, you have to seize it. However, when sellers are preparing to put products on the shelves and prepare stocks, there is a problem that bothers them: Amazon Canada’s FBA inventory restrictions have been further tightened!

You read that right. While sites such as the United States and Japan have gradually relaxed FBA inventory restrictions, Canada has tightened them.

Amazon’s announcement shows that sellers who have sold products through Amazon Logistics for at least 9 months will need to comply with inventory storage limits starting March 4, 2021. The limit quantity is based on the seller’s performance and will be updated regularly.

Previously, the number of new products that can be shipped has been maintained at 75, which has made sellers very worried. Now that the total inventory limit is directly passed, sellers are in tears.

In this case, it is a wise choice to use overseas warehouses.

According to the editor, Rakuten International Express has overseas self-operated warehouses in Toronto, Pickling , and Markham, Canada. The business includes warehousing, drop shipping, FBA return label, return inspection, and secondary sales.

"Due to geographical factors such as employment, labor system, and climate, Canada's logistics situation is changeable. Our overseas warehouses can effectively solve the problems caused by Amazon's inventory restrictions during peak seasons and congestion seasons, and the goods are well prepared in Canadian warehouses." said a relevant person in charge of Lotte Express.
