Amazon charges storage fees again during peak season! Sellers: Balance becomes negative overnight

It’s time to deduct three times the storage fee in one go .

October to December every year is the traditional peak season for cross-border e-commerce, and the Amazon platform will charge storage fees three times higher than usual.

Around this time last month, Amazon started charging storage fees for the peak season for the first time this year, and many sellers wailed, saying that "peak season sales did not increase much, but storage fees increased rapidly." According to leaked information, some people were deducted 500,000 yuan at one time.

The second "deduction nightmare" has come again. Even though we have had the sad experience of having our hard-earned money taken away with one click, we still can't help but feel the pain:

I burst into tears and was charged $18,000 in storage fees;

My friend ’s storage fee in November was as high as 65,000 US dollars;

After deducting the monthly storage fee, overage fee, and long-term storage fee, my blood pressure is rising;

I felt so disappointed. I had worked for a month in vain.

If you don’t work hard to sell goods, be careful that some stores may have a negative balance after deducting the peak season storage fee;

It turns out that if Amazon doesn’t do well, it will really owe money to the platform.

Judging from the feedback, sellers were charged only a few hundred dollars at the least and nearly 70,000 dollars at the most. After the storage fees were deducted, many store balances turned into negative numbers. They still owed money to Amazon while selling goods, which is bound to make the sellers who are "as fierce as tigers" very worried.

It is understood that stores with negative balances are mostly new stores. Generally speaking, new stores are still in the "investment" stage in the first few months and cannot bring much profit to sellers. Some can only barely maintain their costs. However, Amazon charges three times the storage fee, or even put it another way: charging three months' fees for one month. It is inevitable that the store balance will "go negative overnight."

After deducting the storage fee, in addition to new stores, the profits of many old stores are not optimistic. This year, many sellers said that the peak season was not prosperous, and the number of orders dropped sharply compared with previous years. After the platform deducted the money, the profits of the sellers' old stores were naturally affected again.

Next month, Amazon will make one final deduction of peak season storage fees. Sellers should be mentally prepared early and summarize lessons learned from this year’s “deduction experience” to try to deduct less next year.

It is also important to note that starting from January 17, 2023, Amazon's monthly storage fees will also increase during the non-peak season (January to September), with an increase of $0.04 per cubic foot for standard-sized items and $0.03 per cubic foot for large items. The surcharge for inventory stored for 271-365 days will increase. Sellers who store inventory that is larger than the volume sold in the most recent week will be charged a storage usage surcharge. FBA delivery fees will also increase by an average of $0.22.

The repeated changes in Amazon FBA fees and the collection of storage fees during peak seasons have also placed higher demands on sellers’ inventory stocking capabilities.
