Shopee advances digital retail plans in Southeast Asia

According to a report by foreign media Tech Wire Asia last Friday , the five partner brands of e-commerce platform Shopee achieved a gross merchandise value (GMV) of at least US$100 million in 2021, while the number of monthly active members of Shopee Mall increased at least eightfold in the past year .

 

The report mentioned that the Shopee platform will also promote the application of technologies such as artificial intelligence to recommend more personalized entertainment content and discount information to consumers based on their shopping behavior habits and user interests .

 

Shopee launched the Regional Brand Program in 2020 and created a regional series of events with its brand partners. In 2021, Shopee will continue to support the 20 brand partners that have already joined, providing them with opportunities to participate in early programs and events .

 

Shopee Chief Operating Officer Terence Pang said at the recent Shopee Brand Summit that as the retail industry becomes hyper-digitalized, online shopping has become an indispensable part of people's lives . The Southeast Asian market still has a lot of room for growth , and Shopee and its brand partners will continue to expand and enhance Shopee Mall to provide quality services to more customers .

 

The report said the Shopee Mall e-commerce platform plans to step up efforts on key growth drivers by increasing brand awareness through a wider range of marketing means , driving higher business performance through new solutions, and enhancing brand experience through increased engagement tools to expand its reach and strengthen interaction with users on the platform.

 

According to Bain's previous survey data on the Southeast Asian market , Southeast Asia's GMV will reach nearly US$1 trillion by 2030. Shopee is the leading e-commerce retailer in the region , with a GMV of US$35.4 billion in 2020. During the epidemic , Shopee achieved strong expansion in Vietnam , with platform visits soaring by 80%.

 

It has to be said that Shopee 's parent company Sea has entered a market sector that was once dominated by companies such as Grab. Lazada is also cooperating with Grab to use its huge customer resources and driver logistics network to focus on improving the platform's e-commerce business.
