Black Friday and the Christmas shopping season are approaching. In order to create a better shopping environment, Amazon has introduced many policies, such as launching the "Amazon Layaway" interest-free installment payment method; extending the peak season return period to 90 days, etc.; this time, Amazon has launched a new policy.
Today ( September 30), Amazon US announced that in order to make more space for merchants' products as the holiday season approaches, Amazon will make changes to the automatic removal of unsaleable inventory.
The specific change rules are that starting from October 14, 2022, Amazon will automatically remove unsaleable inventory that has been stored in the operation center for more than 14 days. Prior to this, the removal operation applied to unsaleable inventory that had been stored in the operation center for more than 30 days.
This means that if a merchant has previously configured settings to remove unsellable inventory on a monthly basis, the frequency of removing unsellable inventory will be updated to twice a month after this rule takes effect on October 14.
Removing unsellable inventory can save merchants storage fees, enable more efficient inventory management, and improve their Inventory Performance Index scores by removing unfulfillable items more quickly.
Under this announcement, some sellers said that this is a better idea because it can help them carefully check all the products that have been stored in the warehouse for many years but they have never received notification, and then properly deal with these products. Previously, they often had some products that had been sold out for more than 12 months and appeared again from the warehouse.
Another seller said what he really wants is to be able to get rid of the "unsellable inventory" that has been showing up as "cannot be deleted" and "damaged warehouse" notes if he tries to remove it for the past 3-4 years. This seller wants either to file a removal order or to have an acknowledgement that the items are lost and be reimbursed, even if it's just a few cents.
There are two options in the automatic removal options : "Return" and "Discard". Return means returning the unsaleable inventory to the merchant; Discard means disposing of the unsaleable inventory. Merchants can also manually submit a removal order at any time to remove the unsaleable inventory.
For those unsaleable stocks, in addition to enabling automatic or manual removal settings, merchants can also choose multiple value recovery services, such as refurbishment or bulk clearance. That is, refurbishing the unsaleable stocks that meet the requirements and then selling them; clearing the unsaleable stocks in bulk.
In comparison, refurbishment or bulk clearance can still create some benefits for merchants. Amazon US Unsaleable Inventory |
