On June 30 , Amazon officially announced that its Japanese company has formally signed a cooperation agreement with Japan Customs ( Japan Customs and Tariff Agency ) . The agreement indicates that the two parties will strengthen control over imported products, especially products involving compliance issues such as counterfeiting , to prevent goods that infringe intellectual property rights from entering the Japanese market and avoid damaging the fairness of the market .
According to reports, through this cooperation, Amazon Japan and the Japan Customs Tariff Bureau can effectively exchange information about seized counterfeit goods and related counterfeiters , thereby more efficiently identifying counterfeit products and combating counterfeiters. It is understood that this is also the first time that the Japan Customs Tariff Bureau has cooperated with an e-commerce company.
Wataru Sakata, spokesman for the Japan Customs Tariff Bureau , said that the popularity of the Internet and the rapid development of cross-border e-commerce have accelerated the circulation of counterfeit and shoddy products in the market , and this cooperation with Amazon is beneficial to Japan's economy, society, finance and people, as well as all parties involved in legal international trade.
Jasper Chan, president of Amazon Japan , believes that working with the Customs Tariff Bureau to prevent counterfeit products from entering the Japanese market will not only combat counterfeiters in Japan, but will also further combat counterfeiters in the retail industry , thereby strengthening the compliance of products on the Amazon platform.
According to previous reports , as of 2021, Amazon has invested more than $900 million in combating counterfeiting , including hiring more than 12,000 machine learning scientists, software developers, and professional anti-counterfeiting personnel . According to its earlier released "Amazon 2021 Brand Protection Report", it has achieved very effective results in combating counterfeiting.
Currently, Amazon ’s Brand Registry Protection Program, Intellectual Property Accelerator Program, Zero Tolerance Program, and Transparency Program have all been launched on the Japanese site .
Amazon's strict crackdown on non-compliant products is a commonplace. In April, Amazon cooperated with relevant domestic departments to seal up hundreds of counterfeit products in Yiwu . In June, it cooperated with the London City Police to seize more than 32,000 counterfeit CDs in Wirral, with a total value of about RMB 1.4 million . In the same month, Amazon cooperated with the Brazilian National Telecommunications Agency to inspect its warehouse, and 5,700 unapproved telecommunications products were seized , with a total value of about RMB 640,000.
In addition to revenue, Amazon has also attached increasing importance to the international reputation of its platform in recent years, continuously strengthening supervision on compliance issues and taking tough measures.
No matter which site they work on, sellers must have a sense of compliance. Some ways of making quick money are not only undesirable, but will also bring huge losses to themselves. Amazon customs Fakes |
