Amazon worker: I want to have a side job!
In order to make their wallets richer, most Amazon workers have started their own side jobs. For workers in the cross-border circle, building their own Amazon store has naturally become their first choice for side jobs. Many people have also gained considerable profits from this, so much so that some operators have the idea of working alone. At the same time, many people have also raised the question of "Can Amazon employees have side jobs in the company?"
The gross profit of my side business reached 100,000, and the operator asked: Should I go it alone?
In order to make more money and give themselves more sense of security, Amazon workers seem to be going further and further down the path of side jobs.
The seller Xiao Liu is the director of a cross-border e-commerce company. He leads a team of five or six people in the company and earns about 40,000 yuan a month. During the peak season, he can basically get 60,000+ yuan.
Like many cross-border workers, Xiao Liu also started a side business after work. Currently, Xiao Liu and her boyfriend have opened an Amazon store together. Xiao Liu is responsible for product selection and operation, while her boyfriend is responsible for going to the factory to take photos and make pictures. The monthly gross profit is basically maintained at 100,000+.
But for Xiao Liu, managing both the main business and the side business at the same time is a bit too much for him, especially when new products are launched. It is common for him to be busy until one or two in the middle of the night, so that he is mentally and physically exhausted when he goes to work the next day. Therefore, he is considering whether to quit his job and work on his own. However, faced with the company's high commissions and the fear that he will waste his time and become disconnected from society after working on his own, Xiao Liu is in a dilemma.
"I suggest going it alone. The money you get back is so much, it will be better to go it alone." A seller suggested. If you are sure, it is recommended to go it alone. In this way, the gross profit may be more than 100,000.
But more sellers advise Xiao Liu not to resign blindly. Judging from Xiao Liu's current salary, there is still a lot of room for growth, and he can also move towards becoming a company partner. One seller said that the manager of his company earns more than 1 million yuan a year, and the profit of 100,000 yuan working alone is just a drop in the bucket. If there is a slight fluctuation, this profit will be gone.
The seller also added: "I also have a side job, and my monthly profit has reached 170,000 yuan, but I dare not quit my job. I want a profit of at least 200,000 yuan." Judging from the feedback from many independent sellers, when it comes to starting your own business, you are not so free. It only looks free, because starting a business is really not the same as working.
When working, goods worth hundreds of thousands of dollars require millions of RMB to turn over. If you do it yourself, you will have to invest a lot of money at once, and the key is that you may not see any returns. When sellers choose to resign, they will also face a series of changes: first, they will receive less information about Amazon; second, if there is a problem with the Amazon account, there will be no guaranteed salary.
In fact, there are many people like Xiao Liu who choose to work while running a side business, but their original intentions are different.
An Amazon product developer said that the company's current positions are relatively sound, with clear division of labor, and they don't need me at all. I'm too idle. In addition to controlling quality and replenishing stock every day, I just pay attention to new products, basically day after day. I don't have a girlfriend either. My daily routine is playing games and watching TV series. It seems that I have no goals to strive for, just waiting to die. I opened an Amazon store because I wanted to use the resources and savings I had accumulated to do a side job and regain the feeling of struggle.
But this brings up a question: Can Amazon employees have a side job?
Employee fired for opening an Amazon store privately
In the cross-border industry, it is not uncommon for workers to have side jobs. Many employees in the industry run their own stores while working for the company. Although they earn two kinds of money at the same time, they are afraid of being discovered by the company. Because employees and companies have different positions and different ways of dealing with things.
Recently, a cross-border e-commerce company located in Longgang, Shenzhen, issued an announcement, stating that an employee of its operations department violated regulations by holding and operating an Amazon store that he had privately registered while serving as an Amazon operator in the company. He refused to correct his behavior after being reminded many times by his supervisor, so he was persuaded to leave.
In fact, it is not uncommon for employees to be persuaded to leave or fired for owning a store privately. Earlier, a seller also reported that the operation team leader hired by the company was fired because he owned a store privately; many cross-border bosses have also begun to check whether their employees have opened their own stores privately.
For a time, whether employees could own their own stores was a hot topic among insiders.
From the company's perspective , if an employee privately owns a store, it will affect his or her focus on work. You cannot guarantee that the employee will not be distracted by owning his or her own store and can concentrate on working for the company. If an employee owns his or her own store and stares at a computer during work, is he or she working for the company or for himself or herself?
Secondly, it is very likely to harm the interests of the company. "There are many employees who do unauthorized business on the platform, take away users and suppliers, and use the company's store to practice on Amazon and then do it privately," said a seller. The company is not a charity, you can't guarantee that individual employees who open private stores will not covet the company's links, so why test human nature with friendship?
From the perspective of employees , who doesn't have a family to take care of, who doesn't have a Huabei loan to pay off? The current job competition pressure is too great, and everyone wants to earn more money, so that after satisfying their basic needs, they can move towards poetry and distant places. Many employees said that the company's monthly performance targets are completed on time, and they are only busy with company work during work, but after work and on weekends are their own time. As long as they ensure that they do not hinder the interests of the company and do not log in and handle their own stores during working hours, everything will be fine.
Even if the company finds out that the store is under its name, it cannot be ruled out that some companies do not have enough stores, so they register Amazon in the name of their employees and then pay them a few thousand dollars.
As mentioned above, the company found out that the operator had a private store and chose to fire him, which just shows that in essence, the interests of the employees and the company are in conflict to a certain extent. As far as the operation is concerned, if they have strong ability but poor salary, opening a private store is also their choice.
As for companies that want to avoid risks to the greatest extent possible, here are a few suggestions from the editor : before employees join the company, sign a non-compete agreement to clearly constrain employees; conduct background checks on employees, and in addition to operational capabilities, also examine their world outlook, values and character; continuously improve the employee performance appraisal system; maintain and monitor the company's account operation permissions and system management, and firmly grasp the company's core competitiveness.
Of course, the most important point is that the company should focus more on the business level, that is, how to make the company bigger and stronger. After the company becomes bigger and stronger, core employees can enjoy the personal material progress brought about by the company's growth in a timely and effective manner, and tie personal interests and company interests together. Only in this way can the company and employees coexist for a long time.
