On May 31, the Chilean National Chamber of Commerce released a "Chile E-commerce Report for the First Quarter of 2022 " in a local authoritative media , showing that AliExpress has become the most commonly used cross-border e-commerce platform by Chileans with a 24% share of orders. The report counted the payments made on local cross-border e-commerce platforms in the first quarter , and found that Chilean consumers love cross-border platforms more than usual. In terms of amount, Chilean consumers spend 14 pesos out of every 100 pesos on cross-border e-commerce platforms.
Previously, e-commerce data for 2021 released by the American Market Research Institute ( AMI) also showed that the penetration rate of Chile's cross-border e-commerce platforms in the e-commerce market has reached 27%.
In fact, Chile is a market that is often overlooked by domestic cross-border merchants, but it actually has huge potential. Currently, Chile's per capita GDP ranks first in Latin America , and local consumers have extremely strong purchasing power.
At the same time, Chile is also one of the countries with the most developed telecommunications networks in Latin America, with an Internet penetration rate of 82%. The high penetration rate of smartphones has led to the rapid development of Chile's e-commerce market, making it an opportunity market that domestic cross-border merchants can tap into.
As AliExpress becomes the cross-border platform with the largest share in Chile, more domestic cross-border merchants can open up new markets quickly and at low cost through AliExpress.
Specifically, according to the observations of Sizhe, head of AliExpress Americas , over the past five months, popular categories in the Chilean market are relatively concentrated, with a focus on home furnishings, consumer electronics, computers and office, auto and motorcycle accessories, sports cycling, and beauty and health.
Among them, auto and motorcycle accessories continue to grow rapidly. Merchants can focus on auto replacement parts, interior and exterior accessories, car lights, and auto cleaning and maintenance products.
In addition, with the arrival of winter in the southern hemisphere, the demand for some indoor sports and winter sports has increased rapidly, including popular ones such as tennis rackets, badminton rackets and ski-related products.
For consumer electronics, you can focus on tablet and laptop accessories, as well as storage devices.
Sizhe believes that the e-commerce market in key Latin American countries is growing rapidly, and the development of cross-border e-commerce remains strong. For domestic merchants, the market size and growth space in countries such as the United States, Brazil, Mexico, and Chile are huge. Moreover, Latin American manufacturing is weaker than that of China, and there is a certain degree of dependence on Chinese manufacturing. Chile AliExpress Most Popular |
