Don't underestimate! Easter gift card sales will increase more than 3 times

According to foreign media reports, according to the global gift card survey report , the global gift card market transaction volume grows by about US$2.1 billion (about RMB 13.4 billion) each year, and may exceed the US$221 billion ( about RMB 1.4 trillion ) mark by 2024. Brazil is located in this ecosystem and ranks 8th in the global gift card sales market . The upcoming Easter is a node for the growth of gift card consumption .

 

According to data disclosed by gift card retail technology company Todo , gift cards have a large penetration rate and market share in physical stores, especially in the retail sector. It is expected that the sales proportion of Easter in Brazil this year will increase by 313% year-on-year compared with 2021 , while sales in 2021 increased by 551% compared with 2020. In the online sales market , the growth rate in 2021 was 29% year-on-year compared with 2020 .

 

The survey also shows that Brazilian consumers are more inclined to buy gift cards in physical stores than online, but due to the epidemic lockdown, physical stores have many restrictions. In addition, consumers said that there are more gift card styles to choose from when buying online, and they are more likely to buy the gift cards they like.

 

According to Neotrust, a consulting firm , online sales in Brazil will increase by 10% to US$6.6 billion ( about RMB 42.1 billion ) during Easter (April 17) in 2022. In addition to gift cards, online orders for candy, chocolate, Easter eggs, religious items, wine and flowers will continue to grow.

 

After a 0.8% increase in Brazilian retail sales at the start of the year , gift card sales are expected to grow , with the vast majority of growth occurring through online transactions , according to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics ( IBGE) . While still below growth before the global pandemic , it is the best retail performance in the past three years .

 

Easter is coming, and Brazilian online retailers need to make product reserves and promotional preparations in advance to seize this important opportunity for explosive sales .
