Amazon increases commissions for some categories of Seller Alliance

On April 13, Amazon officially sent a notice to members of the Amazon Seller Alliance stating that it would increase commissions for some categories until May 4.

The commission rates for the following categories are included :

Commission rates for home furnishings, home improvement, beauty products, and commercial and industrial supplies have all increased from 3% to 5% .

The commission rates for shoes, handbags and accessories , and office products have all increased from 4 % to 6 % .

The commission rate for kitchen supplies increased from 4.5% to 5.5% .

The commission rate for health and personal care products has increased from 1% to 2 % .

Overall, the commission rate for these categories increased by 1%-2%.

Two years ago, affected by the epidemic , more and more consumers turned to online purchases . Due to the huge supply of consumers, the need to pay for membership became less urgent . Amazon lowered the membership commission rate at the time .

In that time, affiliate commission rates in the luxury and beauty product categories fell a total of 6 percentage points, from 10% to 4%.

Furniture commission rates also fell from 8% to 3%, while grocery commission rates fell from 5% to 1%.

It should be noted that although Amazon’s commission rate has increased this time, the increased commission rate is still 1%-3% lower than the commission rate before the epidemic .

For example, the commission rate for the home and home improvement category increased from 3% to 5%, but this is still 3% lower than the 8% commission rate before the pandemic .

The commission rate for commercial and industrial supplies rose to 5% from 3%, slightly lower than the pre-pandemic commission rate of 6%.

Similarly, commission rates for health and personal care rose from 1% to 2%, but this is still significantly lower than the pre-pandemic rate of 4.5%.

Although Amazon's commission increase this time did not return to the commission rate before the epidemic, the "Seller Alliance" will still have good profit income.

Because the "Seller Alliance" does not need to open a store like sellers, nor does it need to pay rent to the Amazon platform. The "Seller Alliance" is similar to the domestic Taobao Alliance. It only needs to use the Amazon Alliance account to create an Amazon product link, link the best-selling products on the Amazon platform to its own independent website or other platforms, and let consumers click the link to jump to Amazon to buy. Once the transaction is successful, Amazon will return a corresponding proportion of the commission. There are also many promotion channels, including but not limited to independent self-built websites, blogs, YouTube channels and other social media channels. As long as you find the right hot-selling products and expand the promotion channels, the income is basically very considerable.

In short, Amazon’s commission increase is definitely good news for the “ Seller Alliance ”. Sellers can start planning their product and category strategies , but they must also pay attention to risk control and avoid crossing the red line.
