Recently, according to NPD, more than 90% of American consumers showed a strong purchasing interest in hair-related products. This positive shopping trend is expected to continue until 2024 , with an average growth rate of 15% in the next two years .

 

The report shows that compared with before , more consumers plan to buy more targeted hair-related products, including hair and scalp care, relaxers , chemical straighteners , etc. More than half of the respondents said that when they find a product that suits them, they will continue to use it .

 

Data shows that sales of hair masks and scalp care doubled from 2019 to 2021, and despite a decline in other beauty markets during the pandemic, overall hair care sales increased by 8% in 2020. From January to August 2021, sales of hair products increased by 55% compared to last year.

 

Hairdressing services have driven American consumers' search interest in hair care products . Specifically, according to Spate data, consumers search for hair mousse an average of 78,500 times per month , which is the most popular hair product. At the same time, the market competition is fierce, and there are many high-end brands.

 

In addition, hair styling powder has an average monthly search volume of 12,900 times, an increase of 31.5% since last year . Hairspray also ranks among the most used products . Although the proportion of women using this product is high, the frequency of use is relatively low .

 

Although the average monthly search volume for hair relaxers is relatively low, it has increased by 28.5% compared to last year . With the arrival of the hot summer, the demand for hair relaxers will be further boosted.

 

On the other hand, hair care is also in high demand. In addition to going to conditioning institutions, consumers are also focusing on home care . DIY is very popular , and the search volume of related products such as olive oil, eggs, and aloe vera has increased. In terms of brand selection, consumers prefer hair masks or deep conditioners containing natural ingredients.

 

In addition to the above care products, wigs are also very popular in Europe and the United States. Whether it is functional or interesting, hair- related categories have won the favor of consumers in many ways .
