Shopify launches Linkpop to help social commerce grow

According to foreign media reports, Shopify recently launched a new tool called Linkpop in the UK to help merchants sell products directly through social media channels.

Linkpop can build a good shopping experience for merchants on social platforms : merchants can create a link, and consumers can purchase these products directly on the link page without having to jump to Amazon stores or other independent sites .

Linkpop enables merchants and content creators to create a branded social store that they can share regardless of the channel through which they interact with their fans . Shopify said it will help and support creators by expanding the use of business technology and building tools. The launch of Linkpop is part of this plan.

Anyone can use the tool for free , but shopping links are only available to Shopify merchants . When using it, merchants can build links to their Shopify stores and start populating the Linkpop page with purchasable links. Links will also automatically sync with the merchant's product catalog to display all product details directly on the merchant's Linkpop page.

Shopify hopes to motivate users to create Shopify stores through Linkpop . Shopify currently has more than 1 million merchants, but at the same time, social platforms are also moving closer to the field of social e-commerce, with Instagram and TikTok both launching in-app shopping or checkout features. Shopify faces competition from social media platforms themselves in the field of social e-commerce.

“With over 50 million creators worldwide, the creator economy is booming and shows no signs of slowing down,” said Shimona, managing director of Shopify.   Mehta said. “At Shopify, we’re supporting creators in building and owning their brands and creating tools that help bring together creativity, community, and commerce. Linkpop is the first step in this plan .

“We have a lot of followers on social platforms , and with Linkpop, we’re able to convert our followers into customers and brand advocates, added one Shopify store founder. “We used Linkpop to support our recent product launch and were able to increase our social sales conversion rate by over 600%.”
