Amazon India said that more than 100,000 Indian exporters are now selling globally through Amazon Global Selling . The number of sellers on the platform has grown by nearly 30% year-on-year since January 2020. A large number of sellers in the program are not from metros, and many of them are first-generation entrepreneurs and emerging brands.
Abhijit Kamra, Director of Global Trade, Amazon India , said: “ The cumulative export value of these 100,000 Indian exporters on Amazon’s global selling program has exceeded $3 billion, which shows that there is still a huge global demand for Indian-made products . ”
These Indian exporters are providing more than 140 million Indian-made products to Amazon customers in more than 200 countries and regions around the world . Amazon said that the global store program was launched in 2015 with only 100 exporters at that time , and has now grown into a major driving force for Indian e-commerce exports. The main purpose of the program is to help Indian exporters reach customers around the world through Amazon's 17 international websites and markets .
Since the launch of the program, Amazon has been focusing on creating the right infrastructure and ecosystem to enable businesses of all sizes to export goods from India through their e-commerce platform . The company is also organizing field events and workshops to help create awareness about the benefits of e-commerce exports from India.
Amazon’s Kamra said: “We are working on making it easy for Indian businesses to export and enable them to tap their true potential . Our goal is to achieve $10 billion in e-commerce exports by 2025 and contribute to India’s overall export trade . ”
In addition to Amazon , Walmart , one of the world's largest retailers, is also inviting selected Indian sellers to join the Walmart Marketplace . This move expands Walmart's cooperation with Indian exporters , and India has become one of Walmart's largest sourcing markets . The company has set a goal of exporting $10 billion worth of goods from India annually by 2027 . Amazon Cross-border e-commerce India |
