Amazon launches Returns Vendor Program to help sellers process returns

Recently, Amazon announced the launch of the Return Supplier ( RP) program to help international sellers process returns.

The announcement stated that if international sellers do not have a U.S. return address, the Return Provider Program can help sellers connect with return services and manage their returns.

Amazon said the program can simplify the return process, help sellers reduce return costs, and improve customers' return experience . After joining the program, international sellers can choose a return service provider and provide buyers with an automatically generated U.S. return address . It is understood that the return service providers available for sellers to choose have been audited by Amazon.

According to Amazon's return policy, "third-party sellers must meet one of the following three conditions: 1. Provide a return address within the United States; 2. Provide a prepaid return label; 3. Provide a full refund without requiring a return."

For FBA sellers, since Amazon is responsible for logistics, when buyers return goods, they can return them directly to the Amazon warehouse. But for FBM sellers, since they ship the goods themselves, they need to handle the returns themselves.

Since the return fee needs to be borne by the seller, some sellers will choose to refund the product instead of return it if it is a product with low average order value. For products with higher average order value, many sellers will choose overseas warehouses or third-party warehouses. However, the overseas warehouse market is also mixed, and it is not easy to find a reliable supplier.

In the return supplier program, with service providers officially screened by Amazon, it is possible to help sellers avoid many "pitfalls" and allow sellers to take fewer detours.

Most sellers expressed support for Amazon's policy, with one seller commenting under the announcement: "This is what we need to further assist international sellers on the platform."

It is understood that sellers will be able to participate soon after the Return Provider Program is launched to a small number of international sellers on February 16, 2022, and then to all sellers by March 2022 .
