Amazon continues to intensify its offensive in the UK retail market

Amazon is adding its own-brand snacks and groceries to its UK website as it bolsters its online grocery service, which allows customers to add hundreds of "Amazon-branded" or "Amazon's Choice" products to their shopping carts.

The products, which include meat, fresh produce, produce, snacks and household essentials, will be promoted in an advertising blitz as the company seeks to attract more customers to its fresh food service, Amazon Fresh.

Amazon has been growing the UK retail market

According to the editor, Amazon has reached a cooperation with the British supermarket chain Morrisons since August last year to provide free grocery delivery services to millions of Prime members in the UK to compete with traditional grocers.

Morrisons is the fourth largest supermarket chain in the UK. It was founded in 1899 and is headquartered in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England . As a low-priced supermarket brand, Morrisons has a very high cost-effectiveness, especially fish and meat, which are very fresh.

Amazon has also opened physical stores in London called Amazon Fresh that use Just Walk Out technology, which allows customers to pick items from the shelves and take them out of the store without stopping to pay a cashier. The bill is processed automatically, but customers are required to scan their Amazon app to enter.

The UK retail market has a bright future, but Amazon still needs to work hard

Over the past few years , the UK online grocery market has developed rapidly and has become one of the countries with the highest online grocery penetration in the world .

It is reported that in terms of groceries, Amazon's sales in the UK increased by 17.6% in 2020, ranking 19th among all grocers in the UK . It is expected that by 2025, Amazon is expected to become the 15th largest edible grocery seller in the UK , surpassing Shell , McCols, BP and Wilko.

While Amazon's sales growth is strong , other larger grocery stores are also growing , with Tesco, Sainsbury's and Asda all increasing the level and capacity of their online services . Amazon still has a long way to go in the UK market.

But it cannot be ignored that Amazon Fresh delivery service is one of Amazon's fastest growing businesses in the UK , especially under the influence of the coronavirus , the demand for online shopping of fresh food in the UK has been rising . This is a huge development opportunity for Amazon.
