The European and American sneaker speculation circles are also crazy? The prices of second-hand sports shoes are skyrocketing

According to foreign media reports, due to the impact of the supply chain , the prices of second-hand sports shoes from brands such as Nike and New Balance have risen in 2021 .

The American resale website The RealReal recently released its 2021 resale report, which analyzes the resale data and trends of more than 24 million members on The RealReal platform .

Supply chain issues in 2021 have caused quite a few products and brands to experience shipping delays and factory closures , creating a mismatch between supply and demand. As a result, resale platforms are often the only place people can buy certain products , and the prices are usually much higher because new products are almost impossible to obtain.

In the booming resale industry, high-value Nike sneakers top the market in terms of sales .

Nike sneakers, which are in high demand, saw resale sales increase 32% year-over-year , topping the list of the top five brands with the largest increase in resale value. After Nike, brands on the list include Rolex, Bottega Veneta, Chrome Hearts and Hermès.

Nike's rising resale prices are partly due to the lack of supply of its high-demand items, such as its collaborative sneakers . A pair of Nike SB Dunk Low Staple NYC Pigeon sneakers designed by Jeff Staple sold on The RealReal for $18,000 ( more than 110,000 yuan) , becoming one of the most expensive items ever sold on the site .

“Rapidly growing demand for its most popular styles and limited supply have helped Nike’s resale sales grow twice as fast as any other brand this year, said Mayank Hajela, senior director of menswear at The RealReal.

Currently, Vietnam has become Nike's largest OEM production country. Since July this year , the outbreak of the epidemic in Vietnam has caused the factory to stop working, which has affected Nike's production capacity. This has led to an increase in the price of even ordinary styles.

New Balance has also seen strong sales growth this year , with the brand's resale sales up 61% year-over-year . Certain New Balance collaboration sneakers are being resold for 387% more than the official price .

In recent years, New Balance ’s designs have set trends , driving the brand’s popularity and demand ,” The RealReal said. “This year, New Balance has achieved something that most of its competitors have not — rising resale demand and value for its base styles and colorways.”
